Eagles Betting Preview: Growing Pains
The Eagles failed to cover the spread last week, and quite frankly, the new offense under offensive coordinator Sean Mannion appears to be experiencing some severe growing pains.
Jalen Hurts had a league-high 33% non-target rate, resulting in a ton of throwaways because the protection just wasn't there in Week 1.
Now, the Eagles are dealing with Landon Dickerson on IR, forcing them to potentially flip a guard to center or trot out a backup on the interior. Against Jeffery Simmons and the sheer physical strength of this Titans defensive front, that is a glaring mismatch.
Philadelphia only managed 10 first downs last week, and it was bailed out by a 3rd-and-18 scramble and a 3rd-and-17 touchdown pass.
I don't see this offense finding a consistent rhythm, and Hurts has historically struggled in the role of a heavy road chalk.
Titans Betting Preview: Saleh's Success vs. Hurts
Look, I know the Titans were a disaster last week.
Cam Ward had the lowest time to throw in the league because his offensive line was a turnstile, yet he still managed the third-highest off-target rate when kept clean.
The playcalling was an absolute mess. Defensively, they got carved up by the Jets, but in fairness, it was 98 degrees and their defense was on the field for a 17-play, 10-minute drive that completely wore them down.
With a new coaching staff and new schemes, I expect Tennessee to be better in Week 2.
The kicker for me is Robert Saleh's defensive track record against Hurts.
Saleh shut Hurts down with a heavily depleted, practice squad level defense last year. Saleh beat Hurts outright as a 7-point home underdog with Zach Wilson a couple of years ago.
Saleh simply has Hurts' number.

This is the prototypical Week 2 overreaction spot where we are buying the Titans at the floor of the market.
Home 'dogs in Week 2 coming off a double-digit home loss in Week 1 are a remarkable 7-2 against the spread (ATS) over the last 20 years.
In a game with a total of 39 in extreme heat — which historically drops scoring by about 8-9% — the Eagles would basically need to win by double digits.
I don't think their offense is in a state to blow anyone out right now.
