Red Wings vs Panthers Pick
The Florida Panthers are starting to find their form as they enter Monday amid a three-game winning streak. They have won by an average margin of 2.7 goals across that stretch, and they are likely to keep things going against a Detroit Red Wings team dealing with the off-ice drama surrounding Dylan Larkin.
Not only is the absence of an elite talent hanging over this team, but Detroit also falls short of Florida in nearly every major category. This season, the Panthers outrank the Red Wings in goals scored per game, power play percentage, goals allowed per game and penalty kill percentage.
The goaltending edge also goes to Florida, given that John Gibson is slated to guard the cage for Detroit. Through 10 starts this season, Gibson is 4-5-1 with an .860 save percentage and a 3.37 goals-against average.
Meanwhile, the Panthers counter with Jacob Markstrom, who has a higher save percentage and a lower goals-against average than Gibson. When you add home ice to the equation, Florida is the team to back as it searches for its fourth straight victory.
Pick: Panthers -1.5 (40 Cents at Polymarket | Play to 45 Cents)
Golden Knights vs Bruins Pick
Analytically, the Vegas Golden Knights are the superior team in this matchup. This season, Vegas outranks the Boston Bruins in expected goal share, expected goals for per 60 minutes and expected goals against per 60 minutes.
This matchup also features two goaltenders who are trending in different directions. After a strong start to the season, Boston's Jeremy Swayman has started to falter lately.
He has lost three of his past four starts, posting an .870 save percentage and a 3.23 goals-against average over that stretch. On the other hand, the Knights' Carter Hart has allowed two or fewer goals in four of his past six starts.
He is 3-2-1 with an .895 save percentage and a 2.66 goals-against average over that span. These are two of the better teams in the league thus far, but it's worth taking a shot on the Stanley Cup Final runners-up at the cheap price of -118.
Pick: Golden Knights Moneyline (-118 at DraftKings)
Avalanche vs Blackhawks Pick
The Chicago Blackhawks' Roman Kantserov has entered the early conversation for the Calder Trophy, as he is tied for the league lead among rookies in goals scored. While he is still rounding out the other parts of his game, Kantserov's natural scoring ability has translated well from his historic success in the KHL.
Skating alongside Connor Bedard on both the first line and the first power-play unit also makes Kantserov's job much easier. With most of the defensive attention on Bedard, Kantserov has been able to get into high-danger scoring areas where Bedard has set him up multiple times.
This success could continue against the Colorado Avalanche, a team that is not as good defensively as it is offensively. While goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood enters this game in good form, he has still allowed two or more goals in each of his past eight starts.
Even if Chicago only scores two goals against Blackwood, there's a good chance that Bedard sets up Kantserov for one of them.
Pick: Roman Kantserov Anytime Goal Scorer (+280 at BetMGM | Play to +260)
