The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers meet in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final at 8 p.m. ET tonight.

The game will be played at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Fla., and will be broadcast on TNT, TruTV and streamed live on Max.

Game 3 ultimately became a bit of a sideshow. By the time the game ended, the Oilers only had about 10 players remaining on their bench, as the Panthers greeted Sergei Bobrovsky with a job well done. One can only imagine that Game 4 is going to be filled with the same kind of intensity.

Check out my Panthers vs. Oilers pick and NHL odds for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday, June 12.

Edmonton Oilers Preview: Crude Intentions

I was a little discouraged with what I saw from the Oilers in Game 3. It seems like they had played a solid series in the first two games, and then once they hit the south, all hell broke loose.

The penalty minutes kept mounting. From the second that puck dropped to the point that the final buzzer rang. Overall, it was just an uncomfortable scene.

Florida made sure that Edmonton’s stars felt their presence. Connor McDavid was invisible (apart from getting knocked silly by Aaron Ekblad), and Leon Draisaitl was nowhere to be found. If you’ve watched a lick of Oilers hockey all season, their going M.I.A. is a recipe for disaster.

The whistle was blown too early, and it set the tone. It played directly into Florida’s game plan.

I'd also be remiss if I didn’t say that Jake Walman is a beauty. With the kind of player he is, a skill guy that borders on psychotic, the playoffs suit him beautifully.

Goaltending has to be better, and there’s no way around it.

Stuart Skinner was put in a tricky situation early on, and that first goal wasn’t his fault. Then Carter Verhaeghe slotted the second goal up where not even Zdeno Chara could find where Momma hid the cookie jar.

Skinner was known to pick up the slack after a loss. Maybe after two straight losses, things will be different?

Florida Panthers Preview: Feasting on Chaos

The Panthers did what they do best in Game 3.

Agitate. Infuriate. Dominate.

It was a masterclass by the defending Stanley Cup champions, dangling the treat in front of the Oilers and then pulling it away, causing Edmonton to throw down.

Nobody does it better than Brad Marchand, the veteran who put the dagger in the Oilers in Game 2, then started the onslaught in Game 3.

He fits on this team like a glove.

And at some point, the $10 million man, Sam Bennett, has to slow down, right? The winger has made these playoffs his personal shooting gallery, scoring goals in four straight games, including 14 in all playoffs, and adding six assists.

I was greatly encouraged to see that Matthew Tkachuk is 100% back. He’s been dealing with a nagging injury all playoffs, which I’m sure we’ll find more about after the season, but he was Florida’s second most efficient player.

Bobrovsky was unbelievable in Game 3. Florida dominated most of the game, but anytime the Oilers thought they had a legitimate shot at figuring Bob out, he shut it down.

He limited rebounds at an elite level. Edmonton threw 33 shots at him, and Bobrovsky only let up three rebounds.

You do have to wonder, though, if Sunday was just a cake walk. The Oilers, who usually create high-danger opportunities, only generated one. The one was the lone goal that he allowed.

Oilers vs. Panthers Best Bet

It was a total brawl in Sunrise, one that you have to believe NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman doesn’t want to see again.

Edmonton made sure that Florida knew that it wasn’t done yet. After all, the Oilers were down 3-0 in last year’s Stanley Cup, only to tie it 3-3.

As I’ve watched this team develop over the years, the Oilers are not going down without a fight. Zach Hyman may be gone, but McDavid and Draisaitl won’t get shut down for a second game in a row.

The dynamic duo always bounces back. McDavid and Draisaitl own a 1.83 and 1.50 P/GP average, respectively, following a loss in the playoffs.

Corey Perry has done an exceptional job of taking over the Hyman role. The only Edmonton goal in Game 3 was from none other than Perry, right in front of the net.

I believe the message will be clear. Crash the net, make Bobrovsky’s life miserable, and go back to Northern Alberta with the series tied up.

Plus money equals mo’ money. Let’s ride with the Oil.

Pick: Edmonton Oilers ML (+130)
