Israel has become a focal point in global geopolitics, which is why, ahead of the upcoming election, U.S. President Donald Trump endorsed Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that his reelection is what is best for the Middle Eastern nation.

The American president's words had an immediate impact on the prediction markets monitoring the Israeli elections and Netanyahu’s current odds on Kalshi.

What Trump Said About Netanyahu

Although U.S. presidents historically avoid publicly taking sides in foreign elections, Trump’s intervention served as a direct message of support for Netanyahu's political survival amid a fiercely contested domestic race.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump offered his explicit backing: "This is the kind of Partner that the United States of America is demanding of Israel, a Country for which it has done so much. Please let this Letter serve to represent my Complete and Total Endorsement of Bibi Netanyahu in his upcoming Race for Re-election as Prime Minister of Israel."

Unsurprisingly, President Trump did not lose sight of the broader Middle Eastern conflict, framing Netanyahu's leadership around a critical turning point for the region: "I have watched Bibi under the most trying of times. Normal men or women in such situations would have wilted under the pressure. But Bibi did not wilt, he actually got stronger, and maintains that same Strength today."

Why the Endorsement Comes Days Before Israel's Election

The timing of Donald Trump's endorsement is a calculated move designed to give Benjamin Netanyahu maximum momentum in a fiercely contested election. Earlier endorsement risks fading from public attention, whereas a last-minute declaration injects a high-impact narrative.

Trump directly aligns Netanyahu's domestic survival with the strength of the U.S.-Israel strategic alliance, particularly regarding ongoing military efforts against Iran. This late intervention addresses a key vulnerability for Netanyahu, whose opponents have questioned his ability to maintain strong international support.

By framing the election around national security and high-stakes diplomacy, the endorsement forces opposition parties onto uncomfortable defense right before ballots are cast.

How Israeli Politicians and U.S. Officials Are Reacting

Reactions to the endorsement split sharply along partisan lines across both countries. In Israel, Netanyahu immediately embraced the endorsement, posting a video thanking Trump for his "tremendous support" and declaring: "Together we will complete the mission".

Likud campaign operatives quickly incorporated the statement into promotional materials. On the other hand, opposition leaders like Gadi Eisenkot pushed back, asserting that Israeli elections are a domestic sovereign matter and that voters will decide the country's leadership, not foreign leaders.

In Washington, reaction reflected deep political polarization. Conservative commentators and Republican allies praised Trump’s statement as a decisive show of strength against shared adversaries like Iran.

However, Congressional Democrats sharply criticized the move. Senators and Representatives argued that breaking diplomatic protocol to intervene in a foreign election undermines democratic norms and risks long-term damage to the bipartisan baseline of the U.S.-Israel alliance.

What Prediction Markets Show About the Israeli Election

In prediction markets, traders remain unconvinced of Netanyahu’s strength to secure reelection as Prime Minister. On Kalshi, the board is led by Gadi Eisenkot, who holds a 47% implied probability as his surge continues to build momentum.

As for Benjamin Netanyahu, he occupies second place with a 25% implied probability alongside a steady decline in support. Looking closely at the lines on the board, the incumbent prime minister began losing ground in early October, dropping from nearly 36% implied odds to his current figures.

Strikingly, since the publication of Donald Trump's letter, the candidate who has gained the most ground is third-place contender Naftali Bennett, who jumped from 10% to 13% in a matter of hours.
