Bournemouth will host Manchester City in a matchup where both sides are desperate for points on Saturday.

That desperation is for opposite reasons, however, as the Cityzens are once again behind Arsenal in the title race after dropping points in a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forrest last weekend. Meanwhile, the Cherries are hoping to get out of the relegation race as they are currently just three points above last place after their 1-0 win over Wolves in their last outing.

Will Bournemouth build off their first league victory in seven tries and separate themselves further from the relegation zone, or will Manchester City get back on track and continue to put pressure on the Gunners?

Here is our breakdown of the Bournemouth vs Man City odds, and my pick for the Premier League match on Saturday.

Bournemouth Have a Scoring Problem

Bournemouth secured their first three points since returning from the World Cup break last weekend against Wolves to accumulate four points over their previous two league matches, ascending out of the relegation zone, one point ahead of West Ham in 18th.

Given their latest results, there are signs that the Cherries are regaining some form. However, their main problem of scoring is still present.

This season, Bournemouth have just 21 goals in their 23 league games played. They have the worst xG accumulated in the EPL with 18.9, meaning they have actually been fortunate to score as many goals as they have up to this point in the season.

Regression is already hitting manager Gary O'Neil's side, as they have just three goals in their eight games since the World Cup break, the worst in the league.

On a positive note, they have found the back of the net in five of their last eight matches against Man City, so perhaps they can crack through once more on Saturday.

Man City in Need Of A Convincing Road Result

Man City have drawn their previous two games in all competitions with the same scoreline of 1-1, both after leading for the majority of the match.

Each of those matches were on the road, providing us with another data point of just how much Man City have struggled away from home this season compared to years past.

This season they have won just 50% of their games away from the Etihad and are averaging 1.75 points per game on the road compared to 2.58 ppg at home. During the 2021-22 season, they won 74% of their matches on the road and averaged 2.42 ppg away from Manchester.

Moreover, Pep Guardiola's side has scored just 19 goals in their 12 away matches this season compared to scoring 41 goals in their 12 home games.

If there is one team that could kickstart City's road form, though, it is Bournemouth. City have never recorded anything less than three points against the Cherries, winning all 11 league matches against the Kings Park club since the two have entered the first division with a 36-6 goal differential.

Bournemouth vs Man City Pick

While the numbers clearly show how City are not as dominant of a team at home as they are on the road, they blew Bournemouth out at home earlier this season 4-0 and are the better team regardless of location.

Also, Man City could be trailing Arsenal by five points by the time their match starts if the Gunners are to take care of Leicester City in the earlier match, so a win on Saturday is crucial for Guardiola's side if they are to stay within title reach.

For those reasons, expect Man City to continue their flawless streak against Bournemouth and get back on track with a convincing win.

Pick: Manchester City -1.5 (-130)
