Olympic gold medal winner Qinwen Zheng returns to the court where she shocked the world a year ago by beating Iga Swiatek in the Paris Olympic singles semifinals.

Ranked eighth in the WTA Tour, Zheng performed well on clay this season, reaching the quarterfinals in Charleston before giving her best in Rome, where she defeated World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets to advance to the semifinals.

Despite her accomplishments in the Olympics and five WTA singles titles in her career, she has yet to win one in 2025.

At merely 22 years old, Zheng still has a long way to go at Grand Slams, though she's already reached the Australian Open 2024 final and two quarterfinals at the US Open.

At Roland Garros, she will have to face the experienced Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who already beat her 7-5, 6-1 in their only previous meeting in Cincinnati last August.

The Russian has eight Grand Slam quarterfinal appearances in her career and a runner-up finish at the French Open in 2021, although her recent performances on clay did not get her past the first round in Madrid and second round in Rome.

Pick: Zheng Moneyline and Over 19.5 Parlay (+126 via DraftKings)

Jasmine Paolini has been knocking on the Grand Slam door for the past year. In 2024, she reached the Wimbledon and French Open finals, losing to Barbara Krejcikova and Iga Swiatek, respectively.

Last week, Paolini won both singles and doubles titles in Rome. She beat Coco Gauff in the final match — 6-4, 6-2 — to lift her first trophy in 2025 and the third of her career.

In Stuttgart, she had also gotten the best of Gauff in the quarterfinals before losing to Aryna Sabalenka in the semis, so she has already been sizing up her most dangerous opponents.

Clay is her best surface, and this first round should mean no trouble for the World No. 4. Paolini dominates the head-to-head against Yue Yuan (2-0), using her precise forehand to beat her 6-4, 6-3 in Wuhan last year, and in three sets in Beijing in 2023.

Ranked 62nd in the WTA, Yuan couldn't get past the first qualifying match in Rome. In 2024, she won a title in singles and another in doubles. Yuan's best recent performance was an ITF title on clay in April.

Pick: Jasmine Paolini Spread -6.5 (-155 via BetMGM)
