Carmine Carcieri's Djokovic vs Evans Preview, Prediction
Dan Evans Betting Preview
Evans was once a top-25 player in the world, but now the 35-year-old is down to 154th in the ATP rankings. The Brit didn't record his first 2025 ATP main-draw match victory until June, and has had to come out of the qualifying to reach the main draw of some Challenger events this season.
But if Evans has any chance of having a breakthrough late in his career, playing on grass might be his best opportunity.
While the statistics say Evans is best on hard courts, he's posted some solid wins on the grass in 2025. He reached the Round of 16 in 's-Hertogenbosch, beat No. 13-ranked Frances Tiafoe at Queen's Club and topped Tommy Paul and Miomir Kecmanovic (both in three sets) in Eastbourne.
It also helps that Evans, who was born in England, is playing in familiar territory. In the opening round at the All-England Club, Evans cruised past fellow Brit Jay Clarke, 6-1, 7-5, 6-2.
Novak Djokovic Betting Preview
It's no surprise that Djokovic didn't play any grass-court tune-up events before Wimbledon. The veteran is always super confident in his play on the surface and after a grueling clay-court season, it's probably best he was able to find some rest, especially at age 38.
If you look at the score of his opening-round Wimbledon match against Alexandre Muller (four-set victory), you would think Djokovic was feeling the effects of not playing any grass-court tennis this year.
But instead, Djokovic was dealing with a stomach issue, and still was able to cruise past Muller in the three sets he won (losing a total of five games).
The Serbian has won Wimbledon seven times in his career, and this will be his best shot this late in his career to knock Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz off their perch.
With all the upsets over the course of the first couple of rounds, Djokovic has to feel good about his place in the draw.
Evans vs Djokovic Predictions, Betting Analysis
Despite his career success on grass, in general, and at Wimbledon, Djokovic hasn't played on the surface since last season. You would think it would take him a bit of time to get adjusted to this tournament, especially based on his age.
Instead, Djokovic cruised past Muller in the first round — and likely would've won in straight sets if it weren't for a stomach issue.
As long as that illness doesn't reappear, creating lingering effects, Djokovic should cruise past Evans.
It's one thing for Evans to beat Paul and Tiafoe at smaller grass tournaments, but it's something entirely different to see the Brit compete with Djokovic on this stage.
Expect a straight-sets blowout in London.
