Novak Djokovic vs. Flavio Cobolli Preview, Prediction

Novak Djokovic Betting Preview

Novak Djokovic was a bit of a mystery coming into Wimbledon. The 24-time Grand Slam winner played no tournaments in preparation for the event, instead featuring in an exhibition match at The Hurlingham Club in London.

At 38 years old, he's no longer the player he once was — the risk of injury and slowing down looms over him.

Djokovic said he played through injury at last month's French Open, and he was seen wearing a knee brace during practice sessions. Fans were justified in fearing the worst when rival Alex de Minaur raced to a 6-1 lead in the first set of their fourth-round matchup, but the Serb quickly put things in order with a triple 6-4 to advance.

It wasn't the first time Djokovic's form has faltered, as Frenchman Alexandre Muller took a set from him in the first round before absolutely folding.

Still, de Minaur was the only seeded player Djokovic faced — with Jack Draper and on-fire Kazakh star Alexander Bulblik dropping in the early rounds.

As such, even after three games, Djokovic's chances to lift the Wimbledon trophy for a record-tying eighth time remain unclear.

Flavio Cobolli Betting Preview

Italian Flavio Cobolli has been one of the revelations of the European summer tennis season.

The 23-year-old beat world No. 2 Alexander Zverev at his home to win in Hamburg and kept it going after the switch to grass, reaching the quarterfinals in Halle after scoring wins over Joao Fonseca and Denis Shapovalov.

He's taken momentum into Wimbledon, where he's tied with American Ben Shelton for the fewest sets lost with just one.

Granted, Draper and Bublik dropping out made Cobolli's path to the quarterfinals easier, but he still had to push through an experienced Marin Cilic and in-form teenager Jakub Mensik.

His reward will be playing against Djokovic, a player he confessed to having long admired, at what's bound to be a packed Wimbledon Center Court.

Novak Djokovic vs. Flavio Cobolli Predictions, Betting Analysis

Cobolli might be a Djokovic fan, but he surely would rather forget his first clash with the Serbian. It proved to be a 6-1, 6-2 battering at the 2024 Shanghai Masters that showed the gap between the two players.

The Italian has come a long way since then, but his 1-11 record against top-10 players shows he's still not quite there when it comes to sharing the court with some of tennis's best.

Cobolli's lack of experience in games with such high stakes as a Grand Slam quarterfinal will show, and that's when Djokovic will shine.

That's not to say the match is bound to be another beating.

At 32.5, the total nearly rules out anything other than a straight sets win. The Serb has shown he needs to be at the top of his game to be competitive, and Cobolli will expose any inconsistencies in Djokovic's game.
