These models crunch millions of data points to create projected lines (also referred to as “true lines”) that can be compared to available odds in the market to find bets offering value.

For example, consider an NFL matchup between the Packers and Bears with Green Bay as a 3-point favorite.

If a winning NFL model projects this true line to be Packers -5, then there is value jumping on Packers -3 as that spread is undervalued compared to the projection.

On the other hand, if a historically-profitable model determines that the game should be a pick’em, then the Bears become a very good value at +3.
