With one little tweet, Tiger Woods single-handedly raised the level of anticipation for next week’s Genesis Invitational, already a designated event with all (or most) of the PGA Tour elite players planning to compete.

I'm ready to play an ACTUAL PGA Tour event next week @thegenesisinv

Woods first competed in this tournament as a 16-year-old high school sophomore in 1992, shooting 72-75 to miss the cut. Since then, his record has improved, as he’s tallied a total of 14 starts, 11 made cuts, four top-10s and two runner-up finishes – including his lone playoff loss of a dozen opportunities, to Billy Mayfair in 1998.

It remains, however, the tournament he’s played the most without ever winning.

So, what are the odds he’ll finally triumph next week at Riviera? Glad you asked.

With an expected field similar to this week’s WM Phoenix Open, which will once again include the likes of Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler and other big-name players, don’t expect to see Woods’ name anywhere near the top tier on the pre-tournament board.

According to Jeff Sherman, VP of Risk at SuperBook Sports, he will list Woods at 100-1 to win next week when prices are posted on Friday afternoon.

This marks a longer number than Woods had the last time he competed in an official tournament, as golfodds.com shows him at 60-1 prior to last year’s Open Championship, an eventual missed cut result in his third start of the year, all major championships.

The Genesis will be his first official non-major start since a T-72 in the 78-player Zozo Championship field toward the end of 2021.

Woods also played a 10-hole charity exhibition alongside Rory McIlroy in a loss to Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth, plus the PNC Championship with his son, Charlie, in December.

Here are other markets for Woods at the Genesis that Sherman says SuperBook Sports will be offering:

  • No -300

Woods' First-Round Score Over/Under
