A's vs Angels MLB Betting Preview
I like Reid Detmers over 6.5 strikeouts tonight against the A’s.
Yes, the A’s lineup is lefty-heavy, and that split matters — it could make things tougher for Detmers. Even so, I’m willing to bet he racks up strikeouts because his game is built on missing bats.
He’s basically a strikeout merchant; getting K’s is how he generates a lot of his outs.
Part of why the price looks appealing is recent noise. Detmers is coming off two quieter strikeout outings, as he had exactly six last time out against Cleveland and just three two starts ago against the Blue Jays, who are notoriously hard to punch out.
But we’ve seen the upside before when he had nine against the Astros in March, nine against the Yankees in April and eight against the Mets earlier this month.

A's vs Angels Pick, Betting Analysis
Now, Detmers has cleared 6.5 Ks in only three of his nine starts, so this is a bit of a zag against the trend.
With that said, I like the combination of his bat‑missing profile and the market offering value after a couple of down games from a strikeout perspective.
I’ll back Detmers to go over 6.5 Ks here.
Pick: Reid Detmers Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-115)
