Cubs vs Dodgers MLB Betting Preview
The total for this matchup is the first indication that fading the starting pitchers here is a solid angle. A total of around 9.5 runs, featuring two of the top teams in the National League in Los Angeles, is unusual.
The weather has a small impact on this as well, with temperatures in the mid 60's and wind set to blow out to right center. The wind blowing out will only boost both these lineups, who have crushed lefties thus far in 2026.
The Cubs and the Dodgers are No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in wRC+ against lefties, and that spells trouble for Shota Imanaga and Justin Wrobleski. While I am fading Imanaga on his outs line as well, the much stronger fade is on Wrobleski.
To his credit, Justin Wrobleski has done a tremendous job filling it at the backend of the Dodgers rotation. He comes into this matchup with a 1.88 ERA, having done a tremendous job creating soft contact and keeping the ball in the park.
However, his xFIP of 4.58 paints a more realistic story of how fortunate he's been. Wrobleski does not miss many bats, holding a CSW of just 21.9 percent, and has pounded the zone with a 64.1 percent first pitch strike rate.
This Cubs lineup has proven dangerous against lefties, and they are due for more production, as they are patient, draw walks, and rarely miss pitches in the zone.
Wrobleski has yet to allow a homer this year, but his below-average fly ball rate is worrisome in this matchup with the hitting conditions. Expect the Cubs to come out swinging and jump on Wrobleski, resulting in an early trip to the showers for the young lefty.
Pick: Justin Wrobleski Under 15.5 Outs (+100, DraftKings)
