For the near future, I will be writing a 'Total Base of the Day' segment twice per week, where I will be selecting two players that I favor to exceed their 1.5 Total Base number on a daily slate of MLB games.
Below, I will dive into which players I am targeting ahead of Friday night’s slate, analyzing each hitter’s matchup, and further breaking down the batter-edge.
Let's dive into my MLB total base prop picks for the MLB games on Friday, April 24.
MLB Total Bases Prop Picks Today
- Jose Ramirez Input Over 1.5 Total Bases
- Munetaka Murakami Input Over 1.5 Total Bases
Guardians vs Blue Jays Total Bases Pick

Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 Total Bases
For my first ‘Total Base of the Day’ selection, I will be targeting Guardians’ superstar- 3B Jose Ramirez as Cleveland goes on the road to face the reigning American League Champion, Toronto Blue Jays, in the first of a three-game set at Rogers Centre.
Future Hall-of-Fame starting pitcher Max Scherzer is set to take the mound for the home Blue Jays on Friday night, while Williams gets the nod for Cleveland.
Over the course of a two-decade-long career for the Blue Jays’ righty, Scherzer has faced Guardians’ slugger Jose Ramirez just 12 times, as Scherzer played in the National League for the majority of his career.
While Ramirez reached safely in two of those at-bats (AB), including a double and two RBIs, Scherzer certainly proved to be a tough test for Ramirez.
That said, Scherzer is far “over-the-hill” in terms of his production on the mound, recording a career-low ERA upwards of seven across his first four outings of the season.
The 41-year-old is also recovering from a forearm injury, which seems to be significantly impacting Max’s effectiveness on the bump.
In his first four starts this season, Scherzer has lost command of his entire arsenal, in addition to a very diminished durability, which could get worse as the season progresses.
While Guardian-star Jose Ramirez got off to a rocky start in 2026, he has re-emerged as one of the best hitters in baseball with Cleveland’s third-baseman (3B) having blasted four homers and five RBIs over the last week.
Scherzer is a fly-ball pitcher, which has cost him this season with the Jays’ righty allowing over 2 homers per nine innings (2.01 HR/9). Ramirez boasts tremendous power at the plate and is renowned for his heavy-contact, aggressive style in the box.
Given his command issues thus far, if Scherzer leaves a fastball up in the zone against a slugger of Ramirez’s caliber, he will almost certainly be excessively susceptible to throwing home-run pitches.
I love Ramirez to get the best of the Jays’ 41-year-old, and to exceed his 1.5 Total base number ahead of Friday night’s American League contest in Toronto.
Pick: Jose Ramirez Input Over 1.5 Total Bases
Nationals vs White Sox Total Bases Pick
Munetaka Murakami Input Over 1.5 Total Bases
Next, I will be taking a shot on White Sox Japanese-superstar in third-baseman Munetaka Murakami to find success versus Nationals’ veteran Miles Mikolas.
To start his first season in the Majors, Murakami is making a statement for Rookie of the Year with the lefty slugger already having blasted nine homers, which ranks second in baseball.
The Japan-product had a ton of hype coming into the season, and he has more than delivered, establishing himself as one of the league's best contact hitters, driving in 17 RBI’s, and ranking inside the top-10 in the MLB in OPS at .978.
Fortunately for the Sox-star, he gets a matchup with Nationals’ right-hander Mikolas, who is in his first season in DC after having spent the majority of his lengthy career in St Louis.
To start 2026, the Nats’ righty has undoubtedly been one of the worst starting pitchers (SP) in all of baseball. Over five outings thus far, Mikolas has recorded a whopping 9.15 ERA – along with a WHIP just under 2.
Despite a strong start to his career, Washington’s RHP has completely fallen off a cliff and could be in big trouble facing a slugger of Murakami’s caliber on Friday night.
Given Mikolas' early 2026 struggles with command, which has led to a very high hard-hit rate. His four-seam fastball has had a far-reduced velocity, mostly hovering around 92-93 MPH thus far.
An elite left-handed power hitter like Murakami certainly fits the profile of a hitter who can exploit a heavy-contact rate starter like Mikolas, who also pitched far worse on the road for the majority of his career.
Given his high-contact rate thus far and the number of extra-base hits allowed by Mikolas thus far in 2026, I feel great backing the rookie Murakami as our second player on Friday’s slate to exceed his 1.5 total base number.
