Yankees vs Giants Betting Preview
The New York Yankees are off to an unsurprising undefeated start through two games. Starters Max Fried and Cam Schlittler have combined to give up just three hits, one walk, and zero earned runs through 11.2 IP.
Meanwhile, the Yankees' bullpen has given up just one hit, three walks, and zero earned runs through 6.1 IP
Furthermore, the Yankees are a combined 10-0 against the Giants to start the season. Their bats and pitchers are synchronizing to foreshadow another potential World Series appearance.
There is a complete team effort thus far, with run production from the top, middle, and bottom of the order.
Aaron Judge just shook off his WBC and Opening Day bugaboo with a two-run HR against Robbie Ray on Friday. The Captain was under plenty of scrutiny after failing to contribute in the USA's final two WBC games, but that is a thing of the past now. Yankees fans can rest easy after seeing their reigning MVP go deep.
This team is loaded and can face any team at their best, particularly when the top of their rotation is out there.
Subsequently, the San Francisco Giants are 0-2 to start the season. This will happen when you face the Yankees to start a season, but the manner in which they are losing is embarrassing. The Giants' offense looks feeble. The top of their order is one of the slowest in baseball, and features one of the league's most overrated players in the leadoff spot.
Luis Arraez is a limited offensive player and one of the league's worst fielders. The Giants struck out on their attempts to acquire Brendan Donovan or Nico Hoerner (according to ESPN's Jeff Passan) and are sticking with Arraez at 2B for reasons unknown.
Arraez has led off in both games to start the season against an RHP and an LHP. Whether he continues to hit there every day remains to be seen. If he does, there is good reason to continue fading the Giants.
Nevertheless, there is talent on the Giants' offense. There should be better days to come with an offense featuring Matt Chapman, Rafael Devers, Willy Adames, Jung Hoo Lee, and Heliot Ramos.
The good news is that most of their pitching has been excellent. Logan Webb's rough five-inning, six-earned-run start aside, Robbie Ray and the relievers have combined to allow just two earned runs, nine hits, and five walks through 13 innings!
There will be better days for Logan Webb as well, because he is Logan Webb — an elite MLB starting pitcher.
The biggest question comes from the managerial side. First-time MLB manager Tony Vitello looks completely outmatched, especially in postgame interviews. His answers come off emotional and off-putting, rather than calming and…managerial. Some grace is necessary for rookie managers, but the vibe with Vitello is off.
Yankees vs Giants Pick, Betting Analysis
Is the third time the charm for the Giants to get a win? Not today.
The Yankees have Will Warren on the mound against Tyler Mahle. Mahle's ERA exceeded Warren's in 2025, 2.18 to 4.44. However, Warren's xFIP and SIERA were better than Mahle's, and he is a young, fireballer SP with massive upside. While that may not come to fruition in a given start or month, Warren in a vacuum is the better SP bet for today.
Mahle is also not as built up as Warren. Warren threw 25.1 innings through six starts in Spring Training, while Mahle threw just 10 innings through four outings.
Oddly, Warren's stats are better in the hitter-friendly confines of Yankee Stadium, but his career innings at home are a small sample, allowing us to ignore that for now. However, that could come into use later if the trend carries over into 2026…
The Yankees possess the much better offense in this matchup (as they have the past two) and will face a bullpen they have seen almost the entirety of midgame. The Giants have utilized eight different relievers thus far, while the Yankees have deployed six.
Unless Tyler Mahle's horseshoe from last season continues to ride in his rear, regression and the opposing offense could arrive in an ugly fashion.
