Game 5 was a classic as we saw solid pitching, tempers flare and multiple guys come up clutch for their clubs. However, now the Texas Rangers' season is on the line, and the Astros will send their ace to the hill.

This number is almost insultingly low for Framber Valdez. Yes, he had an absolute clunker of an outing earlier in this series where he did not make it out of the third inning.
However, he still managed to strike out five Rangers in that horrid outing. His eclipsing that number extended his streak of doing so to six straight starts.
If he can get over this number in a bad outing, we shouldn't have any reason to doubt he will not do so again, especially since he should be counted on to bounce back here.
To put the value of this number into perspective, Valdez has gone over this total in 79 percent of his starts this season. That gives us staggering implied odds of -376 that he will go over it again here.

This play builds off the first one, except it is an even bigger edge that we can buy low on due to Valdez's poor outing earlier in this series. Valdez was the workhorse for this Astros' rotation for the majority of the season. That is, until Justin Verlander came back over at the trade deadline.
Nonetheless, Valdez has made working deep into games this season a strong trend. He has gone at least five innings in 85 percent of his starts this season. That gives us implied odds of -567 that he will do so tonight.

We go from the Astros' starter to their hottest hitter this postseason. Yordan Alvarez is one of the most feared hitters in baseball, and he's proving why this October.
Through nine postseason games, Alvarez is hitting .417 with six homers and 14 RBI. He has been a one-man wrecking crew, and now he gets to face Nathan Eovaldi tonight in Game 6.
It's safe to say Alvarez has gotten the better of Eovaldi, as he's 9-for-13 against him with five extra-base hits and an average exit velocity of 102.6 mph.
He is in a prime spot to go over this total with one swing in this matchup, and he's already proven he can do so in this series.
Alvarez has eclipsed this total in four straight games and in 60 percent of the games he's played this season.
That hit rate implies odds of -150 that he'll go over again. Fifteen cents of value is more than enough to pull the trigger on the hottest hitter in baseball.
