Check out the Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Payton Talbotts prediction for UFC 332 on Saturday, October 2, along with my betting preview and breakdown.

The co-headliner in Salt Lake City features a potential crossroads fight between ranked bantamweights Payton Talbott and Deiveson Figueiredo. Since his lone setback in the octagon to Raoni Barcelos almost two years ago, Talbott has shown he can bounce back emphatically with impressive wins over Felipe Lima and Henry Cejudo.

Talbott will continue to attempt his climb up the rankings with another potential win over a former champion in Figueiredo. Figueiredo may be 1-4 in his last five fights, but the former flyweight kingpin has strictly been facing top-shelf competition since moving up to 135 pounds.

Here's my Figueiredo vs. Talbott pick and prediction.

From a stylistic perspective, both men are traditionally violent fighters who press their games in very different ways.

Known as the "God of War," Figueiredo entered the organization as a hard-hitting marauder who loved to impose his strength on smaller opposition. But between a taxing quadrilogy with Brandon Moreno and a subsequent move up to bantamweight, Figueiredo has been much more selective with his offensive output, leaning much heavier into his countering sensibilities.

A dangerous counter puncher from both stances, Figueiredo works well off of a long, framing guard that invites advances that the Brazilian feasts on. From cross counters to reactive takedowns in the open, Figueiredo's veteran craft is still capable of keeping his foes on their proverbial toes.

Once Figueiredo can either ground his opponent or create a scramble, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is always working with opportunistic back takes or front chokes in mind.

Luckily for Talbott, the 28-year-old American has been fed a solid amount of wrestling and grappling tests in recent years. And since Talbott's loss to Barcelos, the highly-touted prospect has responded with clear improvements to his wrestling offense and submission defense alike.

On the feet, Talbott is a tall order for almost anyone in the weight class. A fluid switch hitter who offers solid straight punches from either side, Talbott is incredibly fluent when it comes to putting together combinations or hitting change-ups on the fly. From intercepting knees to his natural aptitude when it comes to flowing through striking ranges, Talbott demonstrates sharp eyes in exchanges and durability to boot.

Figueiredo vs. Talbott Pick, Prediction

The oddsmakers and the public heavily favor the American fighter, listing Talbott -750 and Figueiredo +490 as of this writing.

Even though I agree with the market moving strongly on what I felt was a low opener, north of 7-1 is far too inflated a price tag to ask considering the volatility that comes with a combat sport like cage fighting.

But with Figueiredo, with all due respect, being a fighter about whom I can confidently say feels like he's just showing up for a paycheck at this point in his career, I certainly can't get my hopes up over the underdog side of this equation.

For that reason, I feel like you have to get creative in prop and/or totals markets to get action down on this fight.

If you have access to the Talbott -7.5 points handicap prop, then I suggest taking a gander in that direction since I believe that the favorite still covers if this gets to the cards. I also don't hate Talbott's alternate round offering of round 3/decision if you can find it near even money, but I feel more comfortable having some round 2 exposure when you consider that 3/4 of Figueiredo's stoppage losses come in the second frame.

And with all of said round 2 stoppages happening over the 1.5-round mark of action, I believe that an SGP on Talbott and Over 1.5 rounds is the most straightforward approach here (and is playable for anything south of -175).

Dan's Picks: SGP: Talbott & Over 1.5 Rounds -150 (BetRivers)
