UFC Star Colby Covington Makes Final Table in Major Florida Poker Tournament

Colby Covington hasn't been in the octagon since his March win over Jorge Masvidal, but he's still finding success outside of the UFC.
The welterweight title contender and former interim champion made the final table this week in a significant poker tournament in Florida.
Covington took seventh place in the opening event of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. It was a $400 buy-in with a record number of entries for the state of Florida.
Out of 7,703 entrants for the $1 million guaranteed prize pool, Covington topped all but six of them.
With seven players remaining, Covington moved all-in with a shorter stack of 8.4 million tournament chips after all players folded to him prior. Sitting on the button position, Tommy Morgado went all-win over the top of Covington's bet, which chased away any other potential action.
When the cards flipped, Morgado revealed Ace-King of diamonds. Covington was a long shot with an Ace-8 unsuited.
The flop gave Covington a chance at a chop with a 5-3-2 on the board. Any 4-card would've given both players a straight. The turn was a 7 leaving Covington with limited outs. Then a 2 on the river sent Covington to the rail.
His seventh-place finish resulted in a payout of $48,298.
Morgado went on to finish second in the tournament for a $186,979 payout. Andrew Pecina won the tourney for $225,906. The final five players made a deal to chop the pot outside of the original tournament payout parameters.
According to Hendon Poker Mob database, Covington's previous high for a live-tournament cash was just over $9,000. Before this score, his live-tournament career earnings topped $80,000. He has never cashed in a World Series of Poker event, but he's earned more than $17,000 in official World Poker Tour events.
The payout of $48K was more than Covington reportedly made in each of his first six UFC fights. His combined earnings in his championship losses to Kamaru Usman are believed to have topped $1 million.
