Pacers vs Knicks NBA Preview
The Indiana Pacers head to Madison Square Garden tonight to face the New York Knicks for the second time in the last five days.
The previous meeting ended with a 101-92 New York victory in Indianapolis, and the Knicks will try to replicate that performance as they continue their push near the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
Indiana enters the matchup in rough shape. The Pacers have dropped 13 straight games, tying the longest losing streak in franchise history.
Their most recent loss came Sunday in Milwaukee, a 134-123 defeat in which Indiana showed some offensive life but struggled to get stops.
The Pacers were without leading scorers Pascal Siakam and Andrew Nembhard in that contest, further thinning an already injury-plagued roster.
Despite the loss, a few Pacers stepped up offensively.
Aaron Nesmith delivered a career-high 32 points while shooting efficiently from both the field and beyond the arc. Jay Huff contributed 16 points off the bench, while Jarace Walker filled the stat sheet with 14 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
Indiana also knocked down a season-high 21 three-pointers, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with Milwaukee’s high-powered offense.
New York, meanwhile, is trending in the opposite direction.
The Knicks are coming off a narrow 110-107 win over the Warriors at Madison Square Garden.
All-Star guard Jalen Brunson led the way with 30 points and nine assists, while Karl-Anthony Towns returned from injury and recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Brunson also played a key role in Friday’s win over Indiana, scoring 23 of his 29 points in the first half to help the Knicks control the tempo early.
OG Anunoby added 25 points in that game, and Mitchell Robinson dominated the glass with 22 rebounds, including nine on the offensive end.
For tonight, Brunson is listed as questionable (right ankle). If he is limited or unavailable, more offensive responsibility could fall on KAT and the rest of New York’s starting lineup.
The Pacers’ roster is extremely depleted, with a long injury report that includes Siakam, listed as doubtful, while several other rotation players are questionable.
Pacers vs Knicks Predictions, Betting Analysis
Our best angle for this game focuses on Kobe Brown scoring output.
Action PRO projects Richards for 5.32 points in the Pacers' matchup against the Knicks tonight, giving us a massive 29.8% edge against the market when compared to his current prop line of over/under 7.5, which is good enough to mark the Under with an A+ grade in our system.
Brown has averaged 8.3 points across 15 games since arriving in Indiana last month in a trade with the Clippers that also brought center Ivica Zubac to the Pacers.
Since joining Indiana, Brown’s role has expanded significantly, jumping from just 8.7 minutes per game with the Clippers earlier this season to roughly 24 minutes per night with the Pacers.
That increased workload has largely been the result of Indiana’s injury situation. With several rotation players sidelined or limited, Brown has been asked to fill additional minutes, but his scoring output hasn’t consistently followed.
In the Pacers’ loss to the Bucks, Brown finished with nine points, though that performance was driven by an unusually efficient 75% shooting night from the field. Outside of that game, his efficiency has been far less reliable, failing to shoot above 50% in any of the previous four contests.
Just as importantly for this prop, Brown has stayed under the 7.5-point mark in three of his last five games.
Against a Knicks defense that ranks solidly across most metrics and tends to control the glass and pace at home, opportunities for secondary scoring options like Brown may be limited.
Pick: Kobe Brown Under 7.5 points (-123)
