Arizona vs Alabama College Basketball Betting Preview

Arizona Basketball

The Wildcats are in Tommy Lloyd’s fifth season, and this might be the most talented team he's had at the helm. They're the No. 1 team in the country and have four wins against top-25 squads, three of which were against top-five teams.

The Wildcats have four players in Koa Peat, Jaden Bradley, Brayden Burries and Anthony Dell’Orso that average double digits. They're also well balanced, as they're ninth and 10th in adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency, respectively.

They also own a big advantage in the turnover market, as Alabama ranks 329th in creating turnovers. This might mean a few extra possessions for the Wildcats.

Alabama Basketball

There are four ranked-vs-ranked matchups on Saturday, but this might be the most intriguing.

Alabama has just two losses on the season, and they came against the No. 2 team at the time in Purdue and No. 8 team at the time in Gonzaga.

The Crimson Tide won’t be on their home court, but for all intents and purposes, this is a home game.

Alabama is led by Nate Oats, and in typical Oats fashion, this Bama team plays at a very high tempo. The Tide average just 14.4 seconds per offensive possession before a shot goes up.

They're also a very highly efficient bunch. They rank second in adjusted offensive efficiency and ninth in 2-point field goal percentage. They have the leading metrics in both categories over Arizona, but the Wildcats aren't not far behind (ninth in adjusted efficiency).

This Alabama team is led by Labaron Philon Jr., which can be good or bad. We've seen Bama struggle if Philon is having a rough night, but he averages over 21 points per game, and that'll be a lot to handle for Arizona.

Arizona vs. Alabama Betting Analysis

As I broke down this game, a lot of my talking points on outside of shooting seem to favor the Wildcats.

But at 8-0 — and with three top-five wins — fatigue and regression have to set in at some point.

This is a contrarian angle. We're aided by the fact that this game is on a “neutral court," but Bama will have the advantage in terms of travel.

This is a spot to back Bama when it's a bit undervalued.

My Pick: Alabama ML +100
