Two teams that had disappointing weekend results square off in Madison on Thursday night.

The Boilermakers will look to get back on track after squandering a home game to in-state rival Indiana. A victory Thursday night will clinch an outright Big Ten regular season title for Purdue.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin took a massive blow to its NCAA Tournament hopes on Sunday when it fell in overtime to Michigan.

The Badgers held a three-point lead with under three seconds remaining in regulation until Hunter Dickinson buried a long triple at the horn.

Purdue Boilermakers

Purdue has lost four of its past six, but I am not too worried about the Boilermakers' March prospects.

The backcourt is certainly young and has struggled with heavy ball pressure at times, but this team is 24-5 for a reason.

Zach Edey is the National Player of the Year and he will present a lot of matchup challenges for the Badgers in the half court.

One of the keys to Purdue's success will be the play of veteran forward Mason Gillis. Gillis can do a little bit of everything and when he is at his best, he takes the Boilermakers offense to another level.

Wisconsin will slow the tempo down and force Purdue to guard for a full 30 seconds on most trips down the floor.

Containing Tyler Wahl will  be a focal point for Matt Painter's team, as Edey will likely start on Steven Crowl.

Expect Greg Gard to double Edey at various points throughout the night, which will leave guards Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer with chances to score.

Wisconsin Badgers

Wisconsin is going to need to muck this game up and make it a lower scoring affair if it wants to have a real shot at the upset.

The Badgers are an elite defensive team, but struggle to score at times.

The good news is Wisconsin should be better suited to keep Edey off of the offensive glass than some of other Big Ten opponents.

Gard needs Chucky Hepburn and Connor Essegian to make their fair share of shots from the outside to help the Badgers to keep pace with Purdue's offense.

Purdue has struggled at times when faced with physicality on defense, and the Badgers have the potential to apply some pressure.

Purdue vs Wisconsin Betting Pick

This feels like a classic Kohl Center spot.

The Badgers absolutely need this game and have the formula in place to make this a competitive contest for all 40 minutes.

Meanwhile, Purdue has been nowhere near as dominant in Big Ten play away from Mackey Arena.

I expect Hepburn to win the matchup against Smith at the point guard position, and also think Wahl could be in for a big night.

Edey will get his, but Wisconsin can win in other areas of this matchup. The Badgers should be able to hang around untl the end and have a chance to pull off the upset.
