Green Bay vs Yale College Basketball Betting Preview

Green Bay Basketball

The Green Bay Phoenix had a very interesting case as the worst team in college basketball last season. They haven't made much improvements since, dropping four of their five games so far in 2025-26.

Opening against Kansas was probably not the best start to the season, but their next three or four games have been relatively good for them in terms of improvement.

They led by eight at Minnesota, but ultimately, it went to overtime, where they gave it away.

This team has perimeter firepower and ability, as Caden Wilkins and Mac Wrecke have combined to go 14-for-36 from deep. I must preface that with some of those shots came in blowouts, where the opponent's defense may have dwindled.

While we must look through a microscope to find positives on this team, I do think Green Bay could be a lot better than it was last season.

The Phoenix's weakness will remain on defense, as they’ve allowed over 85 points per game (outside of their game against non-Division I Ripon).

This squad is a bit undersized, ranking 223rd in average height nationally. Meanwhile, Yale ranks 117th in the same category.

Yale Basketball

Yale has been a perennial powerhouse in the Ivy League, and I expect the Bulldogs to make the NCAA Tournament once again.

A loss last time out to a very good Rhode Island team is a little speed bump, but facing Green Bay is exactly what the Bulldogs need to get on track.

This Bulldogs team has the ability to score at will, as they're averaging 89.3 points a game. They're a highly efficient team, especially from downtown.

Their defense has been a problem, as they rank outside the top 250 in effective field percentage allowed.

The turnover battle will be the key to this game, as Yale doesn't give the ball away a lot while forcing a fair number of turnovers itself.

The Bulldogs also do a tremendous job in another area: offensive rebounding. I expect them to excel throughout the season in this area.

As with most Ivy League programs, Yale will struggle with depth.

Green Bay vs. Yale Betting Analysis

We've already seen Green Bay struggle against teams ranked in the top 150 of the KenPom rankings. Yale currently ranks 81st.

One of the biggest factors here is that Green Bay is next-to-last in forced turnovers, second-to-last in offensive rebounds and outside the top 300 in adjusted defensive efficiency and defensive effective field goal percentage.

Yale could easily win this game by 20, so I'll lay with the Bulldogs up to -19.

My Pick: Yale -15.5 (Play to -19)
