Maryland vs Nebraska College Basketball Betting Preview

Maryland Basketball

It's been a rough go of things for the Terrapins against Big Ten competition. They enter this matchup 4-12 against conference foes and have yet another tough assignment against Nebraska.

We've seen inconsistency from Maryland on both ends of the floor, but we should see it struggle — especially on the offensive end — in this one. The Cornhuskers are fifth in adjusted defensive efficiency and are tremendous at defending the perimeter, which is where nearly 46% of the Terrapins' shots come from.

Maryland has yet to show us that it has the ability to play up to the level of its competition, and against a team this stout on the defensive end of the floor on the road, its outlook is bleak, to say the least.

Nebraska Basketball

After starting the season 20-0, the Cornhuskers have been trading wins and losses against some of the toughest teams, not only in the Big Ten, but the entire country.

Even with four losses on its record now, this team is still formidable, as it's tremendous in the paint and from beyond the arc.

It just so happens that those are the two areas where Maryland is at its worst defensively. Maryland is 347th in 3-point percentage allowed and has allowed over 60% of shots from the paint to go down.

Nebraska is in the top 10 in the country in 3-point percentage and has converted over 71% of its shots from the painted area.

The Cornhuskers' ability to be consistent in those areas will allow them to go on extended scoring runs.

Maryland vs. Nebraska Betting Analysis

The spread is a clear indication of how much of an edge the Cornhuskers have in this matchup, but their recent losses may have deflated this line a bit.

We should see the Cornhuskers light it up offensively, as Maryland has shown it has almost no answers defensively in the areas that Nebraska excels.

Then, on the other end of the court, scoring against Nebraska hasn't been easy for some of the nation's best offenses, let alone the Terrapins, who are 307th in effective field goal percentage.

Back Nebraska to cruise in this one as it covers the spread.

My Pick: Nebraska -17.5
