St. John's vs Auburn College Basketball Betting Preview
These two teams head into this matchup in wildly different fashions.
Auburn has been a team that's dominated inferior competition. The Tigers' loss to Houston by a single point was impressive for a rebuilt team, but they come into this matchup off a 30-point loss to Michigan.
This season, they're the best team in college basketball at limiting unforced turnovers.
St. John’s comes into this matchup with two losses as well, but both bosses have been competitive, and it's destroyed inferior competition.
St. John’s boasts an elite offense, averaging 95.3 points per game. The Johnnies are largely efficient and have excellent ball movement, as evidenced by their 19.2 assist per game.
Auburn’s defense is its biggest weakness, which could spell trouble against such an explosive offense. The Tigers got beat 29-3 in a fast-break points against Michigan, and I think St. John’s is actually better in that department in Michigan.
This isn't necessarily a great spot to lay the points, although I do lean St. John’s. Instead, I'll look at the over. I think the defensive inefficiencies Auburn possesses and St. John’s strong offense leans well towards the over.
And while I love the Auburn offense, it's also been susceptible to giving up points this season, allowing a tick over 75 per game.
I’m seeing about 166.5, but I'm confident in the over up to 168 points.
My Pick: Over 166.5 (Play to 168)
