Arkansas vs Vanderbilt College Football Preview
Arkansas Razorbacks Betting Preview
Arkansas arrives in Nashville still hunting for its first conference win under Ryan Silverfield, and the Razorbacks are coming off a loss that was closer than the record suggests.
They took their first SEC lead of the season against No. 15 Tennessee last Saturday with back-to-back touchdown drives to open the second half, then lost 24-17 when Tennessee's DeSean Bishop ripped off a 59-yard run that set up the go-ahead score. KJ Jackson was 15-of-27 for 155 yards and a touchdown, and Max Bryant booted a 55-yard field goal with 7:20 left to keep Arkansas in it.
It was a step up from a 34-7 loss at Texas A&M a week earlier, and it extended Arkansas's SEC losing streak to 14 games. The Razorbacks beat North Alabama 31-14 in the opener behind three Jackson touchdown passes and Tulsa 34-6, but they were run off the field by Utah (43-10) and Georgia (45-17).
The offense is the issue: Arkansas averages just 19.3 points per game, ranks 131st nationally in rushing at 99.0 yards per game, and scores only 2.7 points per game in the second quarter, 137th in the country.

Vanderbilt Commodores Betting Preview
Vanderbilt has gone from a quick start to a three-game slide, and the way it has lost matters for this total. The Commodores opened with wins over Austin Peay, Delaware and NC State, but have since lost 21-15 at Auburn, 38-14 at Georgia and 52-17 to No. 9 Ole Miss last Saturday, a game that snapped a 10-game home winning streak and was their worst loss since 2023.
That final score doesn't paint the full picture of how badly the Comedians lost last week. Ole Miss led 42-3 at halftime, but they forced four turnovers and scored 24 points off them, including a fumble return for a touchdown and a short field after a fumble on a kickoff return. Vanderbilt finished with 343 total yards to Ole Miss's 409, a much closer gap than the score.
Freshman quarterback Jared Curtis threw for 222 yards, threw two interceptions, and lost a fumble when he was sacked near his own goal line. Receiver Junior Sherrill has been a bright spot, recording at least 50 receiving yards in 11 straight games, but Vanderbilt has failed to score more than 17 points in each of its three losses.

Arkansas vs Vanderbilt Pick, Betting Analysis
This is a clean fit for Middle Range Unders. The 49.5 total sits at the low end of the system's 48.5-to-69.5 window, Vanderbilt's 6- to 6.5-point spread is well inside the 9.5-point cap, and the weather checks the last box.
A cold front is moving through, with a dry Saturday in the 60s dropping into the 50s after sunset, inside the system's 26-to-74-degree range. Wind is projected at 7.8 mph, inside the 7-to-19 mph window. That's lighter than what East Tennessee is bracing for, but it's enough to add resistance to deep shots and long field goals, which is the kind of subtle friction that shaves a few points off a moderate total without crushing it.
The matchup points the same way. Neither offense can sustain drives right now, and Arkansas's inability to run the ball forces Jackson into long down-and-distance situations. Four of the Razorbacks' six games have finished at 45 total points or fewer, and the market is pricing Vanderbilt off a 52-point Ole Miss outlier that was driven by turnovers and short fields.
The more likely script is the one both teams are built for: Vanderbilt leaning on Sherrill and the short passing game, Arkansas relying on quick-hitting plays and Bryant's leg to cash in stalled drives. Both approaches burn clock, which is how a moderate total goes under.
The risks are real. Vanderbilt's defense allows 29.5 points per game; Arkansas showed it can score in bunches coming out of halftime against Tennessee, and another turnover-fueled blowout could clear the number by itself.
However, with both offenses in their weakest stretches and every system condition in line, 49.5 looks a couple of possessions too high.
Pick: Under 49.5
