Notes

  • FCS games will not be lined with openers, but look later in the week for The Citadel at Clemson (before Gamecock rivalry), Mercer at Alabama (before Iron Bowl), Western Carolina at North Carolina, Wofford at South Carolina (Clemson rivalry lookahead) and Delaware State at Florida State.
  • The biggest game of the week is Michigan at Wisconsin (-6 expected). The Badgers have the invite to the Big Ten Championship game, while this is a must-win for Michigan to be relevant in the East Division.
  • Teams out of bowl contention versus teams in the hunt for a bowl is always important in November. This week, Miami OH (4-6) vs. Eastern Michigan, Buffalo (4-6) at Ball State, UNLV (4-6) at New Mexico, Old Dominion (4-6) vs. Rice, South Alabama (4-6) at Georgia Southern, Arizona State (5-5) at Oregon State, Louisiana Tech (4-6) at UTEP, Idaho (3-6) vs. Coastal Carolina, and Boston College (5-5) at Connecticut all fit the bill.
  • UAB continues to have the feel-good story of the year. Anything over two scores against a very uninspired Florida team is worth consideration.
  • Mississippi State should be double-digit favorites against the Razorbacks. The Bulldogs may have an Alabama hangover and Egg Bowl lookahead in this 11 a.m. local kick spot.
  • ULM comes off a bye week to face an Auburn team that just beat No. 1 Georgia with overlook to the probable new No. 1 Alabama.
  • SMU has taken themselves out of the AAC West race, leaving Memphis (off a bye week) not much to play for as they hold the tiebreaker over Houston.
