Clemson Tigers Betting Preview: Can Clemson's Offense Break Out?

The Clemson Tigers come into this matchup off a bye, and boy, did they ever need one.

Clemson is 1-3 on the season after dropping their past two games to Georgia Tech and Syracuse.

The Tiger offense has been a massive disappointment, averaging only 19.8 points per game, with quarterback Cade Klubnik struggling.

However, if there was ever a matchup for Klubnik to get right, it's this one.

The Tar Heels' secondary has been vulnerable this season, ranking 126th nationally in opponent completion percentage and 136th in sack rate.

Klubnik should see little resistance when dropping back to pass, but it remains to be seen if the Tigers fixed anything during the bye week.

North Carolina Tar Heels Betting Preview: Offensive Woes to Continue

As for the Tar Heels, it has not gone much better as Bill Belichick's college tenure is off to a 2-2 start.

However, it should be noted that their two losses were particularly rough ones against Power Conference opponents.

The Tar Heels' offense has been highly inefficient, ranking 119th nationally in yards per rush and 110th in yards per pass, while running a neutral offensive scheme.

Unlike their counterparts, there is much doubt that the offense was fixed over the bye.

Any new implements will be put to the test quickly, as the Clemson defensive line has been solid at creating pressure and closing up rushing lanes.

Given how rough this offense has looked and their slow tempo, putting up multiple touchdowns would be seen as an improvement.

Clemson vs North Carolina Pick, Betting Analysis

We have seen this total fluctuate throughout the week, but the side to take is the Under.

This matchup is a clash of offensive styles as the Tigers play fast and should have success through the air.

Meanwhile, the Tar Heels rank 128th nationally in seconds per play and haven't shown many signs of life offensively.

With both teams coming into this matchup off a bye, I would lean towards the defenses having an edge in preparation.

If this game starts slow, the Under shouldn't be much of a sweat.

Pick: Under 47 (-110, bet365)
