Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview: Dominant Against 'Dores

It has been quite a hectic last nine months for Ole Miss following its 13-2 record in 2025, though largely defined by now-LSU head coach Lane Kiffin’s decision to leave the program before its College Football Playoff matchup against Miami.

While many expected a down year for the Rebels in Pete Golding’s first year at the helm, Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss led the charge in a phenomenal Week 3 upset victory over then-No. 7 LSU.

However, that winning feeling faded rather quickly for the Rebels in their first true road test of the season, falling 52-28 in a blowout loss to Florida in Gainesville.

Fortunately for Ole Miss, Golding’s bunch is coming off of a bye and will have had two full weeks to make necessary adjustments heading into Saturday’s Week 6 matchup with Vanderbilt.

Chambliss has been phenomenal on all accounts, already throwing for 1,222 yards in the air to rank 30th in the entire country despite playing one game less than most other starting quarterbacks thus far.

The Ole Miss senior has been very efficient with the football as well, ranking 15th among all signal-callers with an 82.5 QBR on the season.

The Rebels are also expected to get running back Kewan Lacy back on Saturday after missing the last several weeks with a shoulder injury suffered earlier this season.

Ole Miss has won its last five games against Vanderbilt and will surely be looking to build upon its domination in this series.

Vanderbilt Commodores Betting Preview: QB Questions

Vanderbilt heads into its Week 6 matchup with Ole Miss after dropping each of its last two contests following a 3-0 start to its 2026 campaign.

True freshman quarterback Jared Curtis got off to a great start to his first collegiate season, leading the Commodores to a 3-1 record over his first four games under center before suffering a bruised knee in the team’s first loss at Auburn.

Senior quarterback Blaze Berlowitz got the start for the Commodores in this past weekend’s loss to Georgia and actually played fairly well, throwing for nearly 200 yards and a touchdown despite the 38-14 final scoreline.

Curtis’ status heading into Saturday’s game will be a major storyline over the next few days, as head coach Clark Lea ultimately must make a decision on who to start under center with the Commodores’ unfortunate 0-2 start to SEC play.

While Vanderbilt’s offensive struggles in consecutive games can quite easily be attributed to two tough road atmospheres and health issues at the quarterback position, the Commodores' defensive unit has looked abysmal as well.

Vandy’s defense has surrendered 26 points to Delaware, 31 to NC State and a slightly more understandable 38 to a top-five Georgia bunch in its last game.

All of those present some slight cause for concern with an uptempo Ole Miss offense coming to town on Saturday.

Ole Miss vs Vanderbilt Pick, Betting Analysis

While a great deal of Vanderbilt’s struggles in recent weeks are somewhat understandable, I remain very worried about the Commodores keeping up with an Ole Miss offense led by a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender in Chambliss.

Given the Rebels’ two full weeks of preparation and Vanderbilt likely starting a QB who has missed two weeks of practice and last week’s game, this is a spot I heavily favor Ole Miss to get off to a red-hot start.

That said, I'll back Ole Miss to cover its -5.5 first-half spread in a clear motivational spot after getting its doors blown off by Florida in Week 4.

Pick: Ole Miss 1H -5.5
