Miami (OH) vs Pitt Pick, Betting Analysis

For the first time since 1949, Miami (OH) and Pitt go head-to-head on the gridiron.

The RedHawks have reached three straight MAC title games (including winning the 2023 title), while the Panthers haven't won a bowl game since 2022 under Pat Narduzzi.

We're avoiding a side in this game, though, because Bet Labs Sports Insights has an edge on the total, according to a system from our very own Evan Abrams labeled "Beware of Falling Totals."

Here's the theory behind this system:

In both regular season and postseason college football, significant drops in the total from opening to closing lines often reflect heavy betting on the under, usually driven by weather concerns, injuries, or perceived matchup issues.

However, these moves can sometimes overstate the expected scoring decline, creating value on the over.

When the adjustment is meaningful but not extreme, offenses can still exceed the lowered expectation, particularly if conditions improve or if the line movement was influenced by public overreaction rather than substantial changes to game dynamics.

While the system is just 1-2 so far this season, the larger sample size shows a 3% return on investment overall and a 54% win rate.

Expect points in this one at Acrisure Stadium.

Pick: Over 47.5
