It's back to business as usual at Jake's 58 Casino on Long Island.

Jake's 58 Casino Hotel in Islandia, New York, faced an unexpected challenge when its IT system went down yesterday. This glitch caused all 1,000 of the casino’s slot-like video lottery terminals to go offline, forcing the popular gaming destination to close its doors for 10 hours.

Jake’s 58 has been a staple on Long Island since it opened. It was originally a Marriott Hotel before being transformed into a casino under Suffolk County's Off-Track Betting (OTB) group. The casino features a wide range of video lottery terminals that attract many gaming enthusiasts.

Quick Response To Get Back on Track

Casino officials acted quickly to fix the problem.

Although they haven't shared specific details about what caused the interruption, Suffolk County OTB CEO Phil Boyle stated that a "necessary casino system restoration" was needed. Technicians worked hard throughout the day, and though the reopening time was pushed back several times, the casino was up and running again by 11 p.m.

The incident was reminiscent of the cybersecurity incident that forced the temporary shutdown of a Minnesota casino in April.

Following the resolution of the IT issues, Jake’s 58 resumed normal operations.

Jake's 58 Casino & Hotel Undergoing Massive Expansion

There’s no word on whether the IT issue is related to the massive renovation project underway at Jake’s 58 Casino & Hotel.

The expansion will see the addition of 1,000 new video lottery terminals, further enlarging the gaming floor to accommodate more players. This enhancement is designed to elevate the guest experience, ensuring that everyone from novices to seasoned gamers can enjoy their time at Jake’s 58.

But it isn't just about gaming. The project includes a state-of-the-art convention center, perfect for hosting events of all sizes.

Guests can look forward to relaxing in an exclusive ultra lounge complete with an outdoor terrace, shopping at the boutique gift shop, enjoying a meal at the new dining options, or catching a game at the sports bar and grill. Aurora Contractors, renowned for their high-quality work, have been selected as the General Contractor for this exciting development.

To better serve the influx of visitors, the expansion includes the construction of a multi-level parking garage alongside additional parking lots. These enhancements will provide around 2,000 parking spaces, ensuring that guests have a seamless experience from the moment they arrive.

The work is expected to be completed next year.
