Michigan (4-2, 1-2 Big Ten) snapped a two-game skid with a 21-18 win over Penn State after a halftime quarterback change. Sharp money pushed the total down to 41.5 points at major sportsbooks. That number reflects two quality defenses and a Michigan offense that leans on the ground game.

Indiana vs. Michigan Preview

Indiana averages 36.6 points per game, ranking 25th in the FBS, but that number drops by roughly nine points in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers averaged more than 48 points per game in nonconference play, yet managed only 15 against Ohio State. Michigan’s defense resembles that Buckeyes unit far more than the North Texas and Howard defenses Indiana torched in September. Josh Hoover protected the football, throwing for 1,660 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and zero interceptions, and he threw for 296 yards against Ohio State. Charlie Becker gave him a reliable target, throwing for 165 receiving yards in that game. Still, two lost fumbles and two missed field goals kept Indiana from turning a 369-313 yardage edge into a win. The Hoosiers also grind out ugly victories, including a 20-17 road win at Nebraska. Indiana’s defense allows only 270.4 yards per game, which limits Michigan’s scoring chances, though the Nebraska and Ohio State games tested that group.

Michigan allows only 16.2 points and 89.7 rushing yards per game, and that defense gives the Wolverines a floor in every contest. The Wolverines beat Penn State 21-18, rushing for 211 yards and passing for just 90, while holding the Nittany Lions to 65 rushing yards. Tommy Carr replaced Bryce Underwood at halftime, after Underwood managed 43 yards and two interceptions. Carr went 5 of 7 for 47 yards and added a 12-yard rushing touchdown, while Savion Hiter chipped in 78 rushing yards. Michigan leans on its run game and defense regardless of who starts, which keeps the clock moving and the scoreboard quiet. The Wolverines have played three straight one-score games, totaling 34, 39, and 39 points, all below 41.5. Only one of Michigan’s six games this season has gone over.

Take Under 41.5 points. Run-heavy drives eat clock, and the Under hit in six of the last 10 meetings between these teams. Sharp bettors drove the total down from an opening number above 42 to as low as 41, which shows how much respect the market has for both defenses. Indiana’s offense poses the biggest threat to this pick, since one big-play burst from Hoover and Becker erases a lot of Under value. Michigan’s offense ranks outside the top 50 in success rate, so the Wolverines rarely push the total over the line on their own. On Kalshi, buying No on Over 41.5 at 49 cents pays 51 cents of profit per contract before fees, which beats the 48 cents the 52-cent Over pays. Expect Indiana to win a low-scoring game, roughly 24-14, with both defenses controlling the pace.

Indiana vs. Michigan Prediction: Under 41.5 points
