Don’t look now, but here come the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jacksonville has won six straight games, including last week’s miraculous comeback win over the Chargers. Trevor Lawrence threw four first-half interceptions and still won, thanks to three second-half touchdowns.

Yes, the Jaguars played in the worst division in football. They’re still a solid team.

Jacksonville ranks 13th in both Overall DVOA and Weighted DVOA, the latter of which weighs recent games more heavily. The Jags are ninth on offense and 26th on defense.

The problem for the Jaguars defense is where they especially struggle: against the pass. That’s likely going to be a problem against Patrick Mahomes.

Speaking of Mahomes, who needs Tyreek Hill? The Chiefs finished fourth in Overall DVOA, first on offense but 17th on defense.

And, as usual, Kansas City got the No. 1 seed in the AFC — although the canceled BillsBengals game could have easily changed that.

The story for the Chiefs is Patrick Mahomes, who’s the favorite to win the second MVP of his career. Mahomes threw for a career-high 5,250 yards and an NFL-leading 41 touchdowns. He improved on pretty much every statistic this season.

With Mahomes, anything is possible — like another trip to the Super Bowl.

Betting Stats

The Chiefs weren’t friendly to bettors this season, going 6-11 against the spread (ATS). Kansas City was 2-6 ATS at home this season.

The Jaguars are red hot against the number, as they have been straight-up. Jacksonville has covered in five of its six straight wins, with the one exception being as a six-point favorite in Week 18 against the Titans.

In October, Jacksonville went 0-5 ATS. Since then, the Jags are 7-3.
