Just like that, we are over halfway through the NFL season.

The Houston Texans travel to MetLife Stadium and take on the 6-2 New YorkGiants. The Giants are coming off of a bye, while the Texans are in the midst of a three-game losing streak.

There is noteworthy news leading up to this showdown, as Xavier McKinney injured his hand during the bye and could miss the rest of the season. Can the Giants  keep their momentum going without their star safety? Can the Texans’ get some momentum going? Let’s take a look at this Sunday afternoon matchup.

The Texans’ don’t have much to be happy with this season.

Rookie Dameon Pierce has the potential to be a star, but aside from that, Houston may be already looking toward the future. When you only score on 30% of your drives and average five yards per play, it is hard to get any sort of offensive momentum going.

To tack onto Houston’s woes, its rush defense is the worst in the NFL. Football Outsiders has the Texans ranked 32nd in rush defense DVOA (compared to 19th against the pass). They have allowed nearly 1500 rushing yards and 5.5 yards per attempt through eight games.

The Giants’ QB situation isn’t that different from the Texans’ as I am not convinced that Daniel Jones is much of a step up from Davis Mills. However, the Giants’ have benefited greatly from a healthy Saquon Barkley.

Since 2020, Barkley has struggled to get on the field, but this season he has done so and the Giants have reaped the rewards. Some of Barkley’s highlights include a stellar performance against the Titans in Week 1, when he totaled 164 rush yards and scored a touchdown. He's also rushed for over 100 yards in two other games and is averaging 97 rush yards per contest.

Betting Picks

If we rewind to Week 8, I gave out Derrick Henry over 99.5 rushing yards. He soared over that total in the first half! The week before, we took Josh Jacobs over 84.5 rushing yards. He ended up with 143.

This week, I am going back to the well. We are going to fade this Texans run defense and bet on Barkley to have another big day.

You can get Barkley's rushing total at 92.5 at BetRivers. Check out the Action Labs Player Props tool for his up-to-date totals across all sportsbooks, as well.

Pick: Saquon Barkley Over 92.5 Rush Yards | Bet to 100.5
