NHL daily picks: Backing the banged up B’s
Not much to get into here with a late pick on a light night of NHL action. We're also running late, so let's get into it.
Last night's action: It was an 0-2 night 'round these parts as the Islanders outplayed the Oilers but were undone by that blasted Connor McDavid in overtime. The Isles outshot the Oilers 13-2 in the third period but couldn't come through. In our other pick, the Florida Panthers were second best against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Tonight's slate:
There's only one game getting our attention tonight, as the matchups between Toronto and Minnesota and San Jose and Tampa Bay are priced appropriately.
Bruins +124
Even without Brad Marchand, the Bruins are now at the price where they warrant a play. The Rangers are on a bit of a roll, but they have had a lot of problems limiting scoring chances against and currently rank second worst in the entire NHL in expected goals against. On the other hand, the B's are doing a great job at limiting opponents' scoring chances, and they drive possession at an impressive clip. It's late, but the B's are the way to go here.
