Democratic candidate Adam Hamilton is threatening a 94-year drought, as he has taken the lead in Kalshi's Kansas Senate Race market, jumping incumbent Roger Marshall for the first time.

As of Friday morning, Hamilton has risen to a 53% lead on Kalshi. Until September, the blue candidate had not held more than 26% of trades, trailing Marshall by 66% on September 5. However, Hamilton has recently caught fire in polling, putting Kansas' historically red congressional delegation on notice. With the race heating up, this market has passed $6.9 million in trading volume.

Kansas Senate Race Odds

For the majority of the election cycle, Marshall maintained an unassailable position on Kalshi's market. Since February, the Republican had not held fewer than 75% of trades, and he peaked at 91%. However, his control dropped from 83% to 60% over the past two months before falling to 47% this week.

Hamilton, a Methodist minister, has campaigned for affordable housing and lower household costs. He is also campaigning to reverse Medicaid cuts, negotiate Medicare drug prices, and protect rural hospitals. Marshall, meanwhile, has built his campaign on putting Kansas farmers first, strengthening the state's borders, and fostering better coordination between local law enforcement and ICE.

Trump Cancelled Rallies in Kansas

President Donald Trump had cancelled rallies in Kansas, seemingly confident in Marshall's polling numbers and early voting results. However, with reports surfacing that Trump has rescheduled those rallies, Hamilton appears to be gaining momentum. Should he win, Hamilton would be the first Democrat to win a Senate seat in Kansas since George McGill in 1932.

For nearly a century, every single senate race in Kansas has resulted in a Republican senate delegation. Unsurprisingly, US Representatives from Kansas' generally lean red as well. From 2010-2018 the state's House delegation was entirely red — until Sharice Davids won Kansas' third district congressional race in 2018.
