AFC Bournemouth vs. Burnley
Burnley are currently the worst defensive team not only in the Premier League but also across Europe's top five leagues, having conceded 58 goals in 29 matches. Although the Clarets started the season with solid home performances, over the last 12 away matches across all competitions, only three saw the hosts hold opposition to just one or fewer goals.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth may have had a slump in form, but they are now unbeaten in their last five away games. Only four teams have returned more points in this span. While they haven't been the most effective goal-wise, they've managed to score over 1.5 in three. Interestingly, this season, Andoni Iraola’s side has scored on average more goals away from home, averaging 1.64 per game. Facing a struggling team like Burnley should see them exceed their average.
Except for the last match between these sides across all competitions, four have seen the Cherries net twice in the last five years.
Pick: Bournemouth Over 1.5 Goals
Brighton & Hove Albion vs. Sunderland
Sunderland’s form has dipped in recent months. They spent most of the first half of the season in the top 10, but their recent slump has dropped them to 11th. The Black Cats have lost just two of their 14 home matches in the league, with five of those resulting in a draw.
Head coach Regis Le Bris has opted to keep things right, and they have largely been successful at home, conceding an average of 0.93 goals per league game at the Stadium of Light. The clash with Brighton could be another cagey affair.
Brighton have drawn 10 of their 29 league matches this season; only Bournemouth have drawn more.
This promises to be another close game, and Le Bris’s side remains difficult to beat at home, so we are backing the draw in this game.
Pick: Draw
Everton vs. Arsenal
Arsenal’s trip to face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League in midweek hands Everton a scheduling advantage. Fortunately for Mikel Arteta, he has the squad at his disposal to rotate and field a team capable of beating Everton at home.
If Arsenal are to realise their ambitions of winning the Premier League title, Everton at home falls into the category of ‘must-win’ fixtures. This matchup is typically tight and low-scoring, with the under 3.5 goals selection winning in six of the last seven head-to-head fixtures.
Everton have conceded two or more goals in just nine of 29 fixtures this season, which is only bettered by Arsenal (5), Aston Villa (7) and Manchester City (8). If the Toffees arrive to contain the hosts and keep the game as low-scoring as possible, then the proposed bet builder selection should come close to winning.
Pick: Arsenal To Win & Under 4 Goals
Newcastle United vs. Chelsea
Newcastle have produced their best football at St. James’ Park this season, struggling on the road in the Premier League. The Magpies have won just three of their 14 away league matches this season. During that run, Eddie Howe’s side has scored an average of one goal per game.
That is a problem against a Chelsea side that has the highest xG (expected goals) in the Premier League. Since Liam Rosenior took charge at Chelsea, only Arsenal have won at Stamford Bridge. The Blues come into this game unbeaten in five home games, scoring 10 goals in the process.
Newcastle haven’t won at Stamford Bridge since 2012. Since then, the teams have met 14 times at this ground, with Chelsea winning 12 of those matches.
Pick: Chelsea To Win
Manchester City vs. West Ham United
Since the 3-1 defeat to Bodo/Glimt in January, Manchester City have pieced together an 11-game unbeaten run, winning nine. Pep Guardiola’s teams have often got stronger as the season progresses, capable of winning games relentlessly as the Premier League title comes within reach.
However, West Ham is not only fighting for Premier League survival but also earning points regularly. The Hammers have lost just twice in their most recent 11 matches — away to Liverpool and Chelsea — and have remained unbeaten at home since the Forest defeat (1-2) on 6th January.
Still, if the recent head-to-head fixture in December is anything to go by, City should create regular goalscoring opportunities here. The visitors registered eight big chances, 2.10 xG, and 14 shots in West Ham’s box less than three months ago.
