Jon Reid's Krejcikova vs Eala Preview, Prediction

Barbora Krejcikova Betting Preview

As I mentioned above, it hasn’t been sunshine and roses by any measure in 2025 for the defending champ.

Injuries have played a big role and Wimbledon will be just the fifth tournament Krejcikova's contested in 2025, with Eastbourne (her tuneup for this week on grass) being the first time she’d won back-to-back matches on the year.

Now, that may sound like a positive, but both wins were in three sets — the second saw her blow a set and break lead and save match points and she proceeded to withdraw prior to the quarterfinal, once again prompting questions about her health.

Krejcikova may have some impressive data on grass thanks to her Wimbledon run last year, but in her current form, it’s almost entirely irrelevant when it comes to handicapping this contest.

Alexandra Eala Betting Preview

This is an odd preview for me to write. I’m not one to typically back the 20-year-old Filipina, as I think there tends to be a bit too much hype surrounding her considering how weak her game can be – her serve in particular.

Yet in this case, it’s really hard not to like her, especially if this match is going to feature plenty of long, grueling rallies.

I would expect just that, even on grass, because Krejcikova in her current state is going to struggle to generate enough offense to hit through the incredible solidity and defending Eala has at her disposal.

I think backing her in this round and looking to fade the strong form and hype next round at the right price is probably the best way to approach Eala’s matches this week.

Krejcikova vs Eala Predictions, Betting Analysis

In the end, this comes down to the questionable physicality and fitness of the defending champion. I am aware that it’s somewhat baked into the price, but as I mentioned earlier, given the opponent on the day, I’m not certain it’s been weighed enough.

Eala has a decent, albeit far from dominant, game and she has the style to punish Krejcikova’s troubling physical condition. This should go without saying, but this is a bet only at books that pay out once the first set is completed.

Betting this anywhere that voids upon retirements regardless of when a player retires certainly eats up a fair bit of one’s equity.
