Kostyuk vs Andreeva Preview, Prediction
Marta Kostyuk Betting Preview
Kostyuk is a 23-year-old Ukrainian who's ranked 15th in the WTA.
She's currently in the best position of her career. She deserves to be here and deserves to reach the WTA top 10 because she's a great talent, a player who can win any tournament she participates in.
She hasn't become a superstar yet because of extenuating circumstances. She's had a series of physical difficulties, even at the beginning of this year when she had some ligament problems.
Then, the fact that her country is involved in a long-term war affects her mentally. I saw after yesterday's victory against Svitolina that she was emotional, talking about the attack on the city of Kiev that took place last night.
It's normal for this to leave its mark on her, but I think it serves as motivation on Thursday. This match has a special meaning when you take into account that her opponent comes from the aggressor country.
Kostyuk has an excellent game, with an efficient serve, which is among the best in the world. But this isn't the only important weapon for the Ukrainian.
She's simply exceptional on the return, she manages to break easily and she puts constant pressure on her opponent. She's very fast, and physically, she seems almost ideal to me. She's very strong, stable and a bundle of muscles, but, at the same time, very fast and agile.
She plays well regardless of the surface, but this year, she's excelled on clay, where she hasn't lost a single match. She said that when she was little, she loved this surface. Now she's rediscovered that side of herself and the joy of moving and hitting variously on this type of court.
She also has high self-confidence thanks to 17 consecutive victories on the circuit, a feat rarely seen in the WTA.
Last season was a relatively good one for her, with a fourth-round appearance at the US Open and quarterfinal berths in Madrid and Montreal.
The new season has been excellent, starting with a final in Brisbane. She had some physical problems, but she recovered quite quickly. And on clay, she's excelled with trophies in Rouen and Madrid (where she beat Thursday's opponent in the final).
At Roland Garros this year, Kostyuk has continued her form. She defeated Iga Swiatek and Elina Svitolina, two of the best tennis players on clay. Swiatek is a four-time champion in Paris, while Svitolina was coming off the Rome trophy.
However, Kostyuk controlled these matches and is hoping for her first final in a Grand Slam in her career.
Mirra Andreeva Betting Preview
Andreeva is a 19-year-old unaffiliated player who's ranked eighth in the WTA.
She's a rare talent in professional sports. A former world leader in the junior circuit, Andreeva made the transition to the professional circuit very quickly, impressing from the start. She was 15 when she debuted in the main draw at the French Open, and she was no laughing matter even then, reaching the third round.
Since then, she hasn't lost before the quarterfinals of this tournament.
Andreeva isn't a clay player, although I mentioned that she excelled on this surface since her debut. However, she excelled regardless of the type of court she played on.
This versatility will help her a lot in the future, and she should win many Grand Slams.
It's also worth emphasizing that she's extremely young. She's almost a decade younger than Aryna Sabalenka, but she's capable of being a superstar. Andreeva is tall and strong, which gives her some advantages.
In addition, I find her excellent from the baseline because she can easily take the initiative in exchanges.
Last season was her first to end in the top 10. She posted very important titles in Dubai and Indian Wells, but she also recorded a quarterfinal berth at Wimbledon.
Her new season has been good, with two trophies: on hard in Adelaide and on indoor clay in Linz. She also has a final in Madrid, but there she lost to Thursday's opponent.
At the French Open, Andreeva has been excellent in every match. She lost a set to Marina Bassols Ribera, but even in that one, I couldn't say she was in danger of losing.
In the quarterfinals against Cirstea, she dominated. She served almost perfectly, losing only one break, and won the first set 6-0. She can't help but think about her first Grand Slam final.
Marta Kostyuk vs Mirra Andreeva Predictions, Betting Analysis
Kostyuk has been extraordinary lately. She's undefeated this year on clay, has 17 consecutive victories and she's already overcome Swiatek and Svitolina — two very solid opponents — in this event.
Her serve is an important weapon, giving her a chance to post many aces.
In addition, she's excellent on the return and doesn't allow many aces.
The ace margin was 5-0 with Swiatek and 4-0 with Svitolina.
Andreeva has also impressed in this tournament. She's only lost one set and on Wednesday, she bageled Cirstea in the first set. She has a good serve, but she doesn't notch many aces.
I therefore believe that Kostyuk will send more aces, making that my play.
