Novak Djokovic survived a tough, gritty four-set match against Yibing Wu in the opening round, and now has to face Stefanos Tsitsipas (approx. 12 p.m. ET) in his second duel at Wimbledon.

This isn't the Tsitsipas of old, but the Greek did have a quick three-set victory vs. qualifier Hugo Gaston in Round 1.

Tsitsipas vs Djokovic Preview, Prediction

Stefanos Tsitsipas Betting Preview

At the start of his career, Tsitsipas immediately rose to the top of the ATP Tour.

That said, the 27-year-old’s career has taken a turn for the worse in recent years, as Tsitsipas has fallen from grace and currently sits as the 83rd-ranked player in the world.

Tsitsipas boasts an aggressive all-court baseline skillset and is largely praised for his heavy top-spin power forehand and a one-handed backhand that, at one time, was one of the premier backhands in the sport.

Like Djokovic, the Greek has a quite impressive tactical skillset, which helped him momentously at the onset of his career.

His power-forehand is undoubtedly the primary weapon in his arsenal, especially given his impressive length that allows him to generate elite topspin with a rather unique “whip-like” motion on his groundstrokes.

While most players prefer dictating rallies from the baseline, Tsitsipas favors doing so in a forward-court strategy that puts far more pressure on his opponents. The goal is shortening rallies and forcing his opponents into committing unforced errors.

Though he's largely favored playing on slower surfaces — like clay — as opposed to the ryegrass we see at Wimbledon, his huge serve and elite power-forehand actually set up very well for the slick surface conditions.

Novak Djokovic Betting Preview

It's no surprise to see 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic as a sizable favorite in this one. Wimbledon presents a prime opportunity for him to capture his 25th major title, especially since world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz is out with a wrist injury.

Despite dropping the first set in his first-round matchup versus Yibing Wu, Djokovic will be entering this second round clash with a ton of confidence, as he's defeated Tsitsipas 12 times in his career.

While Djokovic would stand as a considerable favorite to prevail regardless of the Greek’s recent form, the betting odds would've been closer at the start of Tsitsipas’ career when he was one of the best players in the world.

Djokovic boasts arguably the most elite return game in the history of tennis, which has led to him dismantling competition.

In addition to Djokovic's exceptional counterpunching-prowess, he's renowned for his baseline consistency and unparalleled tactical skillset and versatility, both of which have made him one of the premier clutch players in the history of the sport.

Though his counterpunching style is pretty common on the men's side, Djokovic’s style of play is both far more aggressive and particularly unique compared to others’ return games.

Djokovic's counterpunching approach highlights his remarkable decision-making and uncanny ability to exploit the precise weaknesses of each of his opponents.

He excels at hitting deep shots towards the center of the court, which often results in his opponents committing unforced errors via his ability to limit the angles of their groundstrokes.

It's no surprise why the 39-year-old is the best player in the history of sport given his top-notch first-serve, unmatched court-coverage and remarkable flexibility — all of which allow him to return balls from anywhere.

Tsitsipas vs Djokovic Predictions, Betting Analysis

It doesn't require much analysis to know that I heavily favor the Serbian in this one, but I'll definitely need to take more of a unique betting approach given how massive of a favorite Djokovic is.

Since both players boast strong first serves, it's highly likely there will be a tiebreaker at some point.

This has led to Tsitsipas playing an incredible number of tiebreaks over the course of his career thus far, with Djokovic obviously doing the same when playing far superior competition.

Due to the current line for a tiebreak to occur (-175), I'll be looking to back that prop as one of two legs in a “same-game-parlay” (SGP) of which I'll be including Djokovic moneyline to provide us with more of a favorable -135 price tag.

I would be very surprised if this match goes any further than four sets given Djokovic’s talent level and quest to win a historic 25th slam.

Pick: Djokovic ML / 1+ Tiebreak (SGP -135)
