FC Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid matches rank amongst the most goal-friendly in the Champions League this season. There will also be an added urgency to attack from Hansi Flick’s side as they aim to overcome the two-goal deficit.
Barcelona’s Champions League matches have averaged 4.45 goals per game; only Qarabag’s matches have averaged more. Hansi Flick’s side is averaging 2.73 goals per game, which will give them hope of a comeback here. However, they have failed to keep a single clean sheet in this competition. As a result, Atletico Madrid’s Champions League games have seen an average of 4.38 goals, the third-most in the competition. This rises to 4.67 if we only include the data from their home matches, and our bet has won in all six of those games.
Atletico Madrid don’t need to score, but they come into this game having netted in their last seven home matches across all competitions. Those fixtures have seen an average of 4.43 goals per game, and include a 2-1 win over Barcelona.
Pick: Both Teams To Score – Yes & Over 2.5 Goals
Paris Saint-Germain vs. Liverpool
PSG won the first leg 2-0, but they could easily have netted more. Luis Enrique’s team had two strong penalty appeals denied and squandered a couple of golden opportunities. Liverpool will also have to offer more going forward in this game, so we are tipping over 3.5 goals.
Liverpool’s Champions League matches at Anfield this season have averaged 4.2 goals per game, 1.87 more than their away matches. There have been four goals or more in four of their five home games in this competition this season. The Reds find themselves two goals behind in the series, so we can expect them to show a great deal of attacking intent. However, this will leave them vulnerable to the counter, so there should be chances at both ends.
PSG’s Champions League matches have also seen a glut of goals, averaging 4.08 per game. That’s well above the competition average of 3.46 goals per game. Luis Enrique’s side has scored 16 goals across their six away matches in the Champions League, so it’s hard to envisage Liverpool keeping them at bay.
Pick: Over 3.5 Goals
Sporting Clube de Portugal vs. Arsenal
Since the start of the 2023/24 season, Arsenal have played 17 home matches in the Champions League, losing just one. That solitary defeat was against PSG last season. Mikel Arteta’s side lost 1-0 in the semi-finals to a PSG side that went on to lift the trophy.
Arsenal have a perfect Champions League record at the Emirates this season, winning all five of their matches. Two of those victories came against teams that won the first legs of their own quarter-finals (Bayern and Atletico).
Sporting CP have won just two of their 10 away matches in the Champions League since the start of last season. Those wins came against Athletic Bilbao and Sturm Graz.
Pick: Arsenal To Win
Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich
Bayern have won 12 of their last 13 matches, with the exception being an away draw against Leverkusen. During that run, they have averaged 3.46 goals per game, 2.52 more than they have conceded.
Vincent Kompany’s side have a perfect record at the Allianz Arena in the Champions League this season. They have won all five of their home matches in this competition, scoring 16 and conceding just three. Bayern’s attacking output has been exceptional throughout their European campaign. Their average of 3.09 goals per game is the most in this competition.
Real Madrid drew 1-1 with Girona on Friday night, meaning they are now enduring a run of three matches without a win. Los Blancos have lost four of their nine away matches across all competitions since the conclusion of the Spanish Super Cup in January.
