Fedde's 6.8% SwStr% is dead last among qualified starters. His 23% CSW% is the 4th-lowest mark in the league. Detroit has struck out at the 9th-highest rate vs. RHP over the past 30 days, but they've done plenty of damage. They rank 8th or better in OPS, wOBA, and wRC+ in that span. The biggest factor here might be Steven Matz. St. Louis has an off-day on Thursday, so Matz isn't in line to make a start any time soon. Bringing him in to face lefties Kerry Carpenter, Colt Keith, and Riley Greene would make sense, and that could limit Fedde to just two trips through the lineup.

In the alt market on FanDuel. I have Skubal projected at 8.47 strikeouts due to his nasty swinging-strike rate this year. Makes me think his 33% strikeout rate is more likely to stick than not.

Have Fedde projected for just 4.06 strikeouts. Isn't getting any whiffs this year, which wouldn't typically be a concern given he has outperformed expectations for strikeouts based on his swinging-strike rate in the past. It's more concerning this year, though, with tweaks in the way the strike zone is being called. Makes me more inclined to think the strikeout dip will stick for him.
