While the Tigers have yet to formally announce a starting pitcher for this game, I assume that Troy Melton is starting. I did bet Tigers F5 ML with Melton listed as the pitcher, so this bet will be canceled if Detroit goes in a different direction.
I did this specifically because I project Melton (3.76 weighted FIP) about a half-run better than Emerson Hancock (4.25 weighted FIP), so I want to make sure I’m betting that matchup.
Hancock’s fastball is getting hit, and Detroit’s lineup has been mashing over the past week, so I expect them to jump all over Hancock early.
While I also project some value with Detroit for the full game, I don’t like the bullpen, so I’ll avoid that and take the Tigers in the first half.
