Minnesota Twins Betting Preview, Analysis

David Festa’s numbers aren’t incredible — he enters Monday’s start with a 5.25 ERA, albeit with 48 strikeouts in 48 innings.

Despite posting above-average chase and whiff rates, he gets hit too hard to be consistently effective at the big league level.

That is not what you want heading into a matchup against the Dodgers, as we all know, who have one of the best lineups in the sport. However, Festa may draw the Dodgers without Freddie Freeman, which would help.

The Twins' offense will face many arms tonight following Shohei Ohtani's start, and their road batting splits are not the best. They are batting .233 as a team on the road and have struggled against Ohtani in the past, posting a .170 average with 10 strikeouts in 48 head-to-head plate appearances.

With Ohtani on the mound, the Twins' offensive outlook is not good, so they'll have to capitalize against a taxed Dodgers bullpen.

The Twins' offense doesn't have the chops to keep up offensively with the Dodgers, with or without Freddie Freeman. I can't imagine backing them despite a decent moneyline price tag.

Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview, Analysis

The Dodgers may be without Freddie Freeman, but they should be able to bounce back against David Festa.

It's unclear how long Ohtani will stay on the mound, but he's been very effective in limited action, posting a .78 WHIP behind elite chase, whiff, strikeout and hard-hit rates.

Ohtani should dominate while he’s pitching, which sets up the team’s offense to give them an early lead against Festa. The Dodgers are batting .266 at home this season and have fared well against right-handed pitching.

The Dodgers' injuries are starting to pile up, although Freeman should not miss any extended time. With their bullpen exhausted from this past weekend, I struggle to convince myself that the Dodgers are worth backing on the moneyline.

Twins vs Dodgers Prediction, Betting Analysis

I will approach Monday’s matchup differently and target the Minnesota Twins' 1H Team Total under.

The Twins' offense has been inconsistent all season, and they have struggled on the road.

Even if Ohtani only pitches two innings, the Dodgers' bullpen assignment will be much easier to navigate as they will enter the game facing the bottom of the Twins' order.

The offense could scrape together some runs later in the game, but it will be a genuine struggle early on.

I want nothing to do with the Dodgers tonight, given their recent struggles and bullpen situation, but this is a good opportunity to fade the Twins' offense in the early going.

Pick: Twins F5 TT Under 1.5 (+100, DraftKings)
