Saturday's showdown at Tropicana Field between two American League powerhouses — the Tampa Bay Rays and the Chicago White Sox — promises a thrilling exhibition of No Runs First Inning (NRFI) value.

Taking the mound for the White Sox is the talented Dylan Cease, who has demonstrated remarkable NRFI proficiency. Since last season, Cease holds an impressive 29-7 NRFI record, with a perfect 4-0 NRFI standing in 2023 alone.

His prowess shines when facing batters the first time through the order. He's yielded only four hits in 32 at-bats, resulting in a meager .125 average. Notable Rays hitters have struggled against Cease, with Isaac Paredes (0-for-6), Yandy Diaz (0-for-4), Randy Arozarena (1-for-5) and Brandon Lowe (0-for-2) among those stifled by the right-hander.

On the opposing side, the Rays ace Shane McClanahan takes the stage. Last season, McClanahan posted a 23-8 NRFI record, with a remarkable 16-4 home NRFI split.

Echoing Cease's dominance the first time through an order, McClanahan has allowed a mere five hits in 30 at-bats, resulting in a .167 average. Despite limited appearances, McClanahan has successfully kept White Sox hitters in check, including Yasmani Grandal (0-for-6), Elvis Andrus (0-for-5), Jake Burger (0-for-2) and Luis Robert (1-for-3).

The NRFI bet for this matchup is currently best priced at FanDuel (-135).

As always, six outs to glory…
