For my MLB player props for Tuesday, May 6, I'll be looking into two hot hitters, Freddie Freeman and Riley Greene, alongside Twins starting pitcher Pablo Lopez, who is getting the start against the Orioles.
Let's dive into my MLB player props and parlay picks for Tuesday night.
MLB Player Props & Picks — 5/6
- Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Total Bases (-110, BetMGM)
- Pablo Lopez Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-145, BetMGM)
- Riley Greene Over 1.5 Total Bases (-105, BetMGM)
Dodgers vs Marlins Player Props
Freddie Freeman has the advantage of facing a team and pitcher he has had a lot of success against.
He went 2-for-5 with a home run and RBIs on Monday. He now has 41 home runs against the Marlins, the most of any active player. He is hitting .320 with 134 RBI against the Marlins in his career.
Freeman will face Marlins starting pitcher Cal Quantrill, who is 9-for-17 (.529) lifetime against with two doubles and a triple.
This season, Quantrill has an 8.10 ERA and 1.80 WHIP. He also has a .345 opposing batting average, which has jumped to .405 in his home starts.
Freeman enters Tuesday's game riding a 10-game hitting streak. In that span, he has six multi-hit games, three doubles, and three home runs.
Given his success against Quantril, I expect at least one of those things to happen on Tuesday.
Orioles vs Twins Player Props
Pablo Lopez has recorded six strikeouts in each of his past three starts, two of which have come since returning from the injured list.
He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in his past three starts, lowering his ERA to 2.25.
On Tuesday, he gets a struggling Orioles team on his home mound.
The Orioles have lost six of their past 10 games and enter play in last place in the AL East. While pitching has been a primary concern, its once potent lineup has not produced either.
They've also struck out a ton, entering Tuesday's game with the seventh-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitchers among MLB lineups (23%).
Lopez had seven and eight strikeouts in two starts against Baltimore last season. He has fanned Gunnar Henderson (five), Cedric Mullins, Ryan O'Hearn, Ryan Mountcastle, Ramon Laureano, and Dylan Carlson at least twice. He has worked at least five innings in four of his first five starts.
If Lopez does so again, I like his chances of clearing this line.
Tigers vs Rockies Player Props
The Tigers have played just 35 games this season, but for Riley Greene, it may feel like more because his season has already had a lot of ups and downs.
He started strong with three home runs in his first nine games. He then went through a 1-for-31 slump.
But that appears to be a thing of the past, given his recent form.
Greene has recorded a hit in seven straight and 11 of his last 12 games. In the previous 15 days, he is hitting .353 with a double, five home runs, 13 RBIs, and a 1.067 OPS.
Most notably, he became the first MLB player to hit two home runs in the ninth inning last Thursday against the Angels.
On Tuesday, the Tigers head to Coors Field, where they will face Chase Dollander in the opener.
The Rockies hope that Dollander can lead their rotation for many years. However, he has gotten a rough welcome to the majors as he has a 6.48 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP after allowing eight home runs across his first five starts.
Five of those home runs have come against left-handed batters, who also have a .929 OPS against him.
Greene has eight home runs this year, and he is +450 on BetMGM to leave the yard on Tuesday. He also homered against the Rockies last season and went 5-for-11 with five RBI in the series.
He is in a prime position to re-record two total bases against Colorado.
