Mariners vs White Sox MLB Betting Preview

I don’t believe that Davis Martin can continue this dominant run he’s had to start the season. While his 1.64 ERA looks sparkling, he’s been bailed out by a super-high 88% strand rate and a super low 4.9% HR/FB rate. His batted-ball profile indicates a pitcher whose ERA should be closer to 4.20 (4.22 xERA, 3.92 botERA).

Logan Gilbert looks bad. We should all be concerned. But he’s still running a 3.74 xFIP behind an 18% K-BB and 106 Stuff+ rating. He needs to regain the feel of his full arsenal, but I am hopeful he’ll find his groove.

Mariners vs White Sox Pick, Betting Analysis

Ultimately, I’m simply hunting for reasons to fade the White Sox at this relatively cheap price. They’re playing better than they have in a few seasons, but the SouthSiders will still lose far more games than they win this season.

Aside from the starting pitching matchup, Seattle has significant advantages in the batter’s box and in the bullpen.

I project the Mariners as -135 ML favorites in this matchup, so this isn’t a massive edge, but I’m trusting that the team with more talent and a higher ceiling finds a way to grind out this win.

Pick: Mariners ML (-130 or Better)
