Cardinals vs Tigers Preview
The Cardinals are trying to avoid the sweep against the Tigers.
St. Louis sends out right-hander Kyle Leahy for this game.
This is a converted reliever who struggled in his season debut, allowing four runs on eight hits with two walks and one strikeout in five innings against the Mets.
However, it's worth noting that Leahy was effective last season, putting up a 3.73 SIERA and 14.3 K-BB%.
This could be a spot for a bounce-back in a pitcher-friendly environment like Comerica Park.
The Tigers were swept on the road vs. the Diamondbacks.
Now, they're trying to erase that with a sweep of their own at home against the Cardinals.
With Justin Verlander on the injured list with a hip issue, they've called up Keider Montero to make a spot start.
This is an underwhelming righty who 4.47 SIERA and 18.5% strikeout rate last season. Montero struggled mightily vs. lefties (5.56 xFIP last season).
That's bad news against the likes of JJ Wetherholt, Nolan Gorman and Alec Burleson.

Cardinals vs Tigers Picks
Kyle Leahy came into the year as a popular sleeper in deeper fantasy leagues, so he has some intrigue. He has a curveball that induced a 35.1% whiff rate last season.
Action PRO projects him for 3.8 strikeouts tonight.
We saw some impressive outings from Leahy as a long reliever last year, including seven strikeouts across 3.2 innings against the Rockies at Coors Field.
I'm betting that he can get back on track at Comerica Park.
The other angle of this pick is me fading Keider Montero. The two best hitters on the Cardinals, Wetherholt and Burleson, each bat left-handed.
Montero was atrocious against lefties last year, so that may hurt him in this one.
I'll stick with the first five innings with this pick because I'm zeroing in on the pitching matchup. I don't want to rely on the Cardinals bullpen here.
Pick: Cardinals F5 ML (+104, FanDuel)
