The Lakers have a rematch against the Utah Jazz tonight and while all eyes are once again on Luka Doncic, I’m targeting Austin Reaves.
Reaves has been incredible for this Lakers team and is averaging 19.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.1 assists this season (29.7 PRA). While the thought may be that Luka would cut into Reaves’ Usage, I’m not 100% convinced of this, especially in a game where the Lakers will be without Gabe Vincent and Dorian Finney-Smith when Luka is clearly expected to remain on some sort of minutes limit.
Another key detail here is that when the Lakers were up big last game, Luka did not see the floor in the 4Q while Reaves continued with most of his rotation. Without Vincent and DFS, I think Reaves could be used as a spot up shooter as well, and this will be something to monitor tonight.
Either way, this Lakers team continues to be undersized and Reaves is a strong positional rebounder who can kickstart the fast break. I like him to have an all around contribution.
