Timberwolves vs Grizzlies NBA Preview

Tonight, the Timberwolves and Grizzlies will square off for the second of two games in Memphis.

On Saturday night, the Timberwolves secured their fourth straight victory with a 131-114 win over the Grizzlies.

Anthony Edwards led the way with 33 points, while Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid each scored 20 points or more.

Minnesota has won each of its last four games by double digits. It also returned the favor after Memphis took the first meeting this season, 116-110, in Minnesota.

Edwards did not play in that game and is questionable tonight. Julius Randle is also questionable, while Terrance Shannon Jr. has already been ruled out.

The Grizzlies' chances of pulling off another upset improve if Edwards is ruled out. However, they will be shorthanded, particularly in the frontcourt.

Brandon Clarke and Zach Edey are both out with long-term injuries, while Santi Aldama has been out since last Monday and will miss a fourth straight game. Jaren Jackson missed Saturday's game on the second night of a back-to-back and is questionable.

Ja Morant is also out for a few weeks with a UCL sprain in his left elbow.

However, the Grizzlies got Ty Jerome back for his season debut on Saturday night.

In 20 minutes, Jerome scored 20 points and added six assists on 6-for-12 shooting. He got to the foul line eight times and knocked down seven of them.

Both teams attempted 24 free throws and 37 three-pointers on Saturday.

Minnesota was +3 at the free throw line, but gained a real edge by going 18-for-37 from deep, outscoring Memphis by 24 behind the arc. Reid knocked down six himself and could be primed for another big game tonight.

Timberwolves vs Grizzlies Predictions, Betting Analysis

Naz Reid 25+ Points, Rebounds & Assists

Reid was proficient behind the arc on Saturday, but he also filled up the stat sheet with 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists. It was his fourth straight game with at least 25 combined points, rebounds and assists.

That has happened with Randle available, but if Randle is ruled out, Reid would start and see even more usage.

Dating back to last season, Reid has averaged 33.2 PRA in his last 10 games without Randle. That essentially matches the 34 PRA he recorded on Saturday with Randle in the lineup.

Regardless of Randle's status, Reid should have an opportunity for 28 PRA tonight. Additionally, he has recorded 25+ PRA in six of his last seven games and in five of his last six games against Memphis.

Jaden McDaniels 13+ Points

Jaden McDaniels also takes advantage of his opportunities when the Timberwolves are without Edwards and/or Randle.

Without one of them, McDaniels is a safe bet for 15 points, and 20 points if both are out.

He enters tonight's game with 13 points in eight of his last 10 games, including both meetings against Memphis this season.

Rudy Gobert 10+ Rebounds

Rudy Gobert has recorded 10 rebounds in eight of his last 10 games.

He has pulled down 16 boards in each of his last two games against Memphis, which ranks 20th in rebounds allowed.

Ty Jerome Over 16.5 Points & Assists

Meanwhile, Jerome may see his minutes limited to 20-25 tonight.

Even so, he recorded 26 combined points and assists on Saturday.

He should have the opportunity to record 17 PA again tonight.

  • Jaden McDaniels 13+ Points
  • Rudy Gobert 10+ Rebounds
