Arizona vs Arizona State College Basketball Betting Preview

Arizona Basketball

Arizona continues to show why it's the best team in college basketball, sitting at 21-0 overall and 8-0 in the Big 12 after its road win at BYU.

The Wildcats' defense showed why it's the best unit in the Big 12, holding AJ Dybantsa to 6-of-24 from the field.

The defense starts with Jaden Bradley. He does a tremendous job with consistently taking away opposing teams' guards like he did against BYU's Robert Wright III, who was held to 3-of-16 shooting. On the season, opponents are shooting 51-of-151 (33.8%) when guarded by Bradley.

Brayden Burries has been unconscious from the field recently, shooting over 50% from the field in three out of the last four games, including his 29 points on 7-of-13 shooting at BYU. Burries is one of the rare cases in college basketball of a player who's better at shooting the basketball off the dribble than off the catch.

On the season, Burries is shooting 18-of-41 (44%) from 3 off the dribble compared to 17-of-53 (32%) off the catch (via Synergy). The last time Burries scored in the single-digits was the first matchup against Arizona State, where he was held to six points.

Arizona State Basketball

After winning nine out of their first 11 games, Arizona State has been struggling, especially in conference play. The Sun Devils sit at 11-10 overall and 2-6 in conference play, and are 2-8 in their last 10 games.

Simply put, this team has Moe Odum and that's about it. In Arizona State's 82-68 last win, against Cincinnati, Odum had 33 points on 10-of-17 shooting and eight assists.

He has to do it all for a team that has inconsistent scorers such as Massamba Diop, who's talented but has scored in the single-digits in three out of the last four games after having 16 points in the first matchup against Arizona.

Arizona State is one of the better teams in the conference when it comes to forcing turnovers, so if it wants to keep this game close, it'll have to turn over a disciplined Arizona offense.

Arizona vs. Arizona State Betting Analysis

I know Arizona State has the home court advantage in this rivalry game, but Arizona is a juggernaut.

Arizona State was a bit lucky in the first matchup between these two, shooting 11-of-25 (44%) from deep. For reference, in conference play, the Sun Devils are a bottom five team in 3-point shooting. Odum had 23 points the last time they played, and I trust Bradley to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Arizona's defense will make a statement in this game, Burries will continue his hot streak and the Wildcats will live in the paint against one of the worst defenses in the Big 12.

My Pick: Arizona -15.5
