USC vs Arizona State College Basketball Betting Preview

An old Pac-12 matchup is taking place today in Maui. USC has won its last three games by one possession, and it's coming off a controversial win against Seton Hall on Tuesday. As for Arizona State, it beat Texas 87-86 and Washington State 100-94.

Maurice Odum has been awesome in Maui for the Sun Devils, scoring 36 against Texas and 26 against Washington State.

We're going to see two good scoring guards play in the championship game today, with Arizona State's Odum and USC's Rodney Rice.

Though Odum had 36 against Texas, he did shoot inefficiently from the field (7-for-21).

USC has a top-30 defense in the country, and combining that with Wednesday being the third game in three days, I feel like Odum will have regression shooting 3-pointers, and Arizona State, as a team, will be inefficient from the field.

Rice only had 13 points against Seton Hall, and I expect him to be aggressive early in the game and find his rhythm against a defense that's struggled to guard in Maui.

My X-factor for the game is USC's Jacob Cofie. Opponents are shooting 12-for-56 (21%) from the field and 4-for-19 (21%) around the rim when guarded by Cofie.

USC will do its best to run Odum (58% from 3 in Maui) off the 3-point line and funnel him into tough 2-point attempts against its shot blocker.

With USC having a point of emphasis against Odum, I don't have trust in someone else to step up and be the scoring option in the starting lineup for Arizona State.

Defense wins and covers this game for USC.

My Pick: USC -5.5
